Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Brother HL-2070N Network Monochrome Laser Printer (Black)Customer Review: great printer Summary: 5 Stars
This printer is totally worth the money. If you mostly care to print things in black/white you'll get much more milage out of the ink for this printer than you would with a bubble jet printer.
Perfect for college students, especially graduate students who have to print out lots of academic papers from the web.
Look at it this way: Ink jet cartridge costs $30 - $50 and you get a few hundred sheets. The toner cartridge for this printer costs about $65 and you get about 20,000 sheets.
The network connectivity is nice if you have a laptop with wireless. You hook it into your wireless router (via an eternet cable), set up a few options, and then you can print from any room in the house. If you don't mind having to walk up to the printer and plugging in a cable every time you print something, then there's a cheaper model without the network connectivity.
Customer Review: Great looking and performing printer for the money Summary: 5 Stars
This is a great printer for the money. I had an older Brother model before I bought this one and there was nothing wrong with it, I just decided that I liked the looks of this one better since the old one was beige and I wanted my home office to have a more modern look. Plus this print is smaller and more streamlined.
This printer is a bit louder when printing than my old printer but when it goes to sleep, it's totally silent. It reminds me of the motor you hear when you are on an airplane flight and the flaps are coming down. It sounds surprisingly like it! It's not super loud, just slightly louder than my old laser printer.
This laser printer prints out fast and looks good for a good price, what more could you ask for?
Brother has excellent customer service. I've had a few questions from time to time and they have always been very helpful.
Customer Review: Great laser printer Summary: 5 Stars
Stupid me!! Why didn't I buy this years ago!! I finally have a networkable, fast printer! This is my first laser printer. My previous printers were inkjet. That's so last century!! Print quality is great for the avaerage user. I haven't bothered printing photos yet, after all it is only a black and white printer. But it is so great having a reliable printer on my home network now that everyone can easily access with no problems. No more print server, no more disconnects. If I really need to print color then print to the old inkjet off the main computer only. Surprisingly, I find I don't need color most of the time. Unless a person does graphics or photo printing, color printers are overrated. Keep it simple. I will still save money buying one color, black, of the normally 'more expensive' laser toner than all the color/black ink combo kits I was buying for the inkjet.
Customer Review: Love it Summary: 5 Stars
I bought this printer in December 2006 to replace a very old HP inkjet. This printer connects directly into a router, which is much less hassle than one that connects through somebody's computer. The print quality is excellent and its fast. Five people in the family use it and everyone is very happy with it. We have four PCs and two Macs and setting it up was easy on each one.
It holds a whole package of paper in the tray. When I print an envelope, it waits for one to be feed through a slot and then prints without the need to push a button.
If you know the printer's IP address, you can access it through a browser to see how many pages have been printed or change the configuration. Nifty.
Update after nearly 4 years of use: Its still working perfectly. It it runs out of paper, it will stay in the ready mode for a long time.
Customer Review: Great budget laser printer Summary: 5 Stars
I purchased this laser printer because I needed something with a smaller footprint and light since I am using this in a portable fashion taking it from job site to job site. I also wanted something faster then an inkjet. The printer met my requirements and then some. For speed, it really is fast. Warm-up time is just a few seconds and it starts cranking out paper. The advertised pages-per-minute are true to their word. The by-pass feed is very easy to work with no extra steps required other then sticking the paper in the slot. It apparently can be used in a network setting, but I have not tried that but it looks easy enough to set-up with the included software that takes you through step-by-step. If you want an inexpensive laser printer that is still very fast by almost any standard and doesn't take up much space, this one will work for you.
