Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Brother HL-2070N Network Monochrome Laser Printer (Black)Customer Review: Very reliable laser printer Summary: 5 Stars
I have been using this printer for about half a year, and absolutely love it. I have it plugged into a wireless router, so all of the computers (Mac and PCs) in my house can use it. Installing the drivers was an easy process, as was getting it networked. I don't do a whole lot of printing, mainly school documents, so I haven't even replaced the toner cartridge yet. Unlike ink jet printers, you don't have to worry about the toner in laser printers drying up over time, or clogging the ink heads. Toner is a very fine powder, not liquid ink, so it never dries up. I have found this printer very reliable, it has never jammed or let me down. Printing in envelopes is surprisingly easy, just insert it in the manual feed slot on the printer and it comes out perfect.
I haven't had any big problems with paper curling after coming out of the printer. Sometimes (depending on the humidity level I am told) the sheets are a little curled, but they generally flatten out once cooled and do not present an issue.
Customer Review: Great Printer For The Whole House Summary: 5 Stars
This is a great way to let all the computers in your house share one printer. In my house I have 5... my PC, my wife's PC, a laptop each, and a low-end DIY box I use for playing with Linux.
The installation of this printer was really easy. I plugged it into one of the wired ports on our wireless router and had all the PCs in the house printing to it within 10 minutes. I not only got our Windows machines using it in minutes, when I recently did a test install of Linspire on my DIY box, Linux printed to it with no problem too.
The output quality is great and it warms up pretty quickly. The only "bad" part is when I'm at my desk upstairs (where the printer is), my wife is downstairs with her laptop, and she prints something. Having the printer start up and print without warning was sort of spooky and took a little getting used to.
But all in all, this is awesome. One printer serves the whole house, gives great-looking output, and was a snap to get working.
Customer Review: Great Price, Fast, Networked, Small, Print Tray Summary: 5 Stars
This is a great printer for the price. I have bought a number of HP printers through the years, always because I enjoyed their reliability.
However in recent years HP has become obnoxious with the cost of toner and really sticking it too their customers charging for every little thing.
This printer provides everything you need at a very reasonable price. Ethernet a great deal easily $100 with HP, 20 ppm, 10 second start up, and a 250 page enclosed tray(HP has started charging extra for this option how stupid is that) and in a very small case.
Brother has done an exceptional job the printer is as fast as promised, works flawlessly, installed very easily, and with the ethernet I can hide it in a desk in the kitchen without needing a computer nearby.
Highly recommended.
Pros:
Ethernet
20ppm
10 second startup
250 sheet tray
very small
great print quality

Customer Review: Works very well Summary: 5 Stars
Mac setup flawless under 10.4.9 Tiger. Never could get windows driver to work until I assigned a static IP address to the printer. Run it off a D-Link DI-524 router.
I'm a home user. Printer is fast enough for me and print quality is good. Printer seems to have 3 operating modes, namely 1)printing, 2)sitting ready in case you print again, and 3)standby. It's somewhat loud during printing, but not unreasonably so. There is fan noise when in mode 2 as decribed above, and it's completely silent in mode 3. It does dim the lights on startup (in my old mid-century home) so there's some current draw when the heater(?) starts up.
Have had no paper path issues. Tray holds a generous amount of paper - we've not had to refill in a month (and that's during tax time...)
Have not tried any of the fancy stuff. After fighting with my old HP 1610 for over a year, the reliability of this machine has been most pleasant.
Customer Review: Love this thing! Summary: 5 Stars
I have had this printer for a couple of months now and feel confident to review it. I got an incredible deal on it, so that definitely added the fifth star. We have both this Brother laser and a Brother multifunction hooked up to our CPU- we have only used the MF once in these two months to print a couple of pics. I am a teacher and use the laser every day to print class sets of about 30 copies and unlike the deskjet, I don't feel like I am overworking it at all. Woohoo! No more rushing to school to get to the copier! As for the paper curl people are writing about- I used to have an inherited HP laser (a pricey one) and it curled the paper too- the paper straightens out when it cools off. To be able to have a laser at the price of this Brother is amazing!! I will say this, though- I don't get the big deal on the networking ability- I was able to network the MF through Windows setup anyway- just had to make it a shared printer.
