Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Bracketron UFM-100BL Nav-Mat GPS Friction Dash Pad

Customer Review: What a great idea and what a great product!
Summary: 5 Stars

Problem #1: Slanted windshield makes install of GPS an issue.
~
Problem #2: Once installed, crack heads see the unit, smash your windows and steal it.
~
Problem #3: You take the unit with you when you leave the car, but have to leave the suction cup attached because it's a hassle to remove. Crack heads see the cup and assume you left the unit in the car, see Problem #2
~
Problem #4 If you use the perm install w/adhesive your car's value drops like a stone off a cliff.
~
SOLUTION is the Nav-Mat. What a great idea! Well made, durable, great looking, you can take it right off the dash and hide it (and your GPS) in the car. No one knows you even have a GPS, which negates all the problems outline above. If you own a GPS you need this. Great execution of a great idea.

Customer Review: Excellent Product
Summary: 5 Stars

My GPS would not stick very well to the windshield of my car and would often drop while I was driving. I, therefore decided to purchase Bracketron UFM-100BL Nav-Mat GPS Friction Dash Pad. I have been using it now for more than a month and it is a great product. It is heavy and the base of this product is such that it sticks/cling to the dashboard. My GPS is attached to this product, I put it on the dashboard and it never moves, skids, or slips on the dashboard. It is indeed a great product and convenient to use. The visibility of the GPS is perfect and it does not obstruct your outside view from the vehicle. I don't even try to attach the GPS on the windshield now. Just put the Nav-Mat where you would like on the dashboard and off you go. I strongly recommend it to all GPS users. You will not regret it.

Customer Review: Must-Have for Suction-Cup Mounts
Summary: 5 Stars

I mounted my Magellan 3100 to this beanbag dash mount that I bought with it and took the setup into my Honda Pilot (2007). I purposefully took several hard turns and hard braking maneuvers. I couldn't get this thing to budge....and I'm pretty good at making things fly during turns and stops, including 100-lb UPSs :-). This mount is a million times better than mounting the thing to the windshield. The suction cup holds rock-solid, and you can aways adhesive disk to the mount if you want. I paid $12.89 for mine -- the shipping was actually almost as much as the mount, but well worth it.

Just be sure to take the GPS with you when you park and hide the mounts (the GPS mount and this one), which is easily enough done, and of course no rings on the windshield as pointed out by another reviewer.

Customer Review: very happy
Summary: 5 Stars

I am very happy with this item. I do not use it on the dash, so I have no idea if it works there. I use it on the middle of the bench seat, on the passenger seat, and on the hump on the floor below the radio. The GPS unit fits in it beautifully: easy in and easy out since I do not ever leave the GPS screen in the car to be seen and stolen, very stable with the GPS unit postured on it, and heavy enough to be stable and light enough to lift and move around the car to make it handy or get it out of my way. I use my car and the GPS unit mostly for business appts at people's homes throughout my week. This was a real problem-solver for me. Also, very handy to grab-and-go when heading to a new address with my husband for dining or visiting. I love that it is portable into the other vehicle.

Customer Review: Great, but there may be airport security issues
Summary: 5 Stars

I bought this product for use with my Magellan Maestro 3225. The suctioned base mounts perfectly into the Nav-Mat, and the pad does not move, regardless of the angle at which it sits on the dash board while you drive.

I purchased the product because I was going to be driving while traveling out of state. As it turned out, my only issue with the product was that airport security personnel didn't know what to make of the object, and they asked to have it re-screened on two out of three passes through security. Anticipating this, the best thing would be to either have it stored in checked in bags, or to remove it and put it out for scanning if you are taking it via carry-on luggage, as you would with a laptop... at least until airport personnel become familiar with it.
