Customer Review: If you own a GPS, you need this mount!
Summary: 5 Stars

Bracketron UFM-100BL Nav-Mat GPS Friction Dash Pad

Why to I give this unit 5 stars?
1. No more tell-tale suction cup ring on the windshield after you remove your GPS mount (Thieves look for those, then break into the car looking for your GPS)
2. It stays where you put it.
3. Mounts the GPS low, in a small footprint
4. Rugged and sturdy
5. Easier to handle your system when moving it to and from the vehicle.
6. Quickly move the GPS from the dash to the floorboard to conceal it when the car is parked.
7. You don't have to lick suction cups anymore.
8. Best of all? Less than 12 bucks.....
Disadvantages? When my wife saw it, she confiscated it for her own use. I had to order another for myself.

Customer Review: Bracketron Nav-Mat
Summary: 5 Stars

The Bracketron Nav-Mat works well. It does not move once placed on the dashboard of my car. My dashboard does not have a flat area either so I was impressed at how well it stayed in place.

My main reason for buying this is the high number of incidents involving GPS theft. Having the window mounts seems to invite thieves to break a car window in search of a portable GPS inside. With a Nav-Mat, I can simply remove it from my car or store it in a compartment. It is much easier to do this with the Nav-Mat than the provided windshield mounting kit.

The dash mounts provided with a GPS are usually not sufficient because they use glue/adhesion to stick to the dashboard. This is not ideal if you do not want to damage the exterior of the dashboard.

I recommend it for security reasons and because it works well.

Customer Review: Perfect not only for Californians
Summary: 5 Stars

I love this dash pad for two reasons: it solves the dilemma on CA's restriction (to mount things on the windshield), and it's transferrable.

Since CA restricts us from mounting our GPS on the windshield, this is a great alternative. Although most GPS's you purchase come with a circular platform you can tape onto your dashboard, I prefer not to tape things on my dashboard because it (1) can't be transferred from car-to-car, and (2) it lets thieves see that you have a GPS (which gives them another reason to want to break in).

As far as its usage, it works very well. The grip on the bottom keeps it solid on your dash board, and the flexible structure "molds" itself onto your uneven dashboard. What I love most is that when I'm not using my GPS, I can just tuck the dash pad away (it doesn't take up very much space at all).

Customer Review: Execellent product

Well worth the price!! A MUST have for GPS unit owners!!

I got this for my new TomTom 3rd Edition. I did NOT want to use the suction cup mount on my windshield both for security and to be able to move the unit from one vehicle to another. When I park I only have to unplug the power cord and the whole thing tucks under the seat so it is not in view. No windshield mount, no suction cup rings on the windshield.

Plus some states (i.e. California) do NOT allow windshield mounts.

It sits on the dashboard of my Dodge Ram 1500 without ANY problems. No sliding or shifting round during my normal driving in and around town and on the freeways.

I only had to play around with the suction cup mount positioning a couple of time to allow the GPS unit to sit without interfering with the power cord.

Customer Review: Great dash mount!
Summary: 5 Stars

I've used this mount in a minivan and a MINI Cooper and found it to be absolutely stable. It never moved in the minivan, no matter how hard I cornered or braked (and I tried to get it to move). In the MINI, it only moved once, when I went flying around a corner into a parking lot and hit a hole...the mount moved about half an inch.

If you have a little GPS unit like a Garmin i3 (or i2 or i5) you'll find the unit sits low which makes it a little difficult to use the wheel or button. The Nuvi 350 sits at a nice height in this mount. Another plus is the mount looks much nicer than Garmin's 3-legged mounts. This item is made in China.

Update April 2010: The mount has lost its stickiness. My GPS now slides all over the place, even in mild to moderate turns. Figure about 2 years as the life of this mount.
