Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Bracketron UFM-100BL Nav-Mat GPS Friction Dash PadCustomer Review: Bracketron UFM-100BL Nav-Mat GPS Friction Dash Pad Summary: 5 Stars
Here's the deal: We have three cars a pontoon boat and a kayak. Moving our GPS from one vehicle to another or a boat has been a royal pain in the wrist as we snap and unsnap the window (deck) suction cup mount.
This device (Nav-Mat GPS Friction Dash Pad) has made our lives much simpler. We just unplug the unit from the cigarette lighter outlet and carry the pad to a another vehicle or boat and it is done. It stays in place when the idiot in front of us slams his breaks on for no apparent reason or the idiot behind the wheel of our vehicle takes a turn too quickly.
The great thing about this unit is that we do not have to mount the GPS on the windshield or dash board: We leave it on the console between the seats and it does not interfere with windshield visablity. Plus, my wife can just pick it up and sit it on her lap to change a destination or seek POI's, then place it back on the console.
Great invention.

Customer Review: Does exactly what is promised. Summary: 5 Stars
I bought this item for two reasons. The first is to have a place for my Mio C520 GPS. Vent mounts force me to take my eyes off the road and I don't like that.
The Nav-Mat holds the Mios steady and the Nav-Mat itself stays where I put it. It doesn't slide around when I accelerate, brake or turn.
Can't ask for more than that: it does what it promises to do. Just attach the suction cup of your GPS to the Nav-Mat platform, put it on your dash and you're ready to go.
Dismounts easily so you can stash your GPS out of site when you leave the car.
The second reason I bought the item was to take it with when I travel and rent a car at my destination. Scratch that. This thing is a lot bigger than I anticipated and doesn't pack well. Oh well, the secondary reason was a hope, not a deal killer.
On the whole though, the Nav-Mat does what it promises to do: provide a stable platform for your GPS.

Customer Review: Excellent product; works as advertised Summary: 5 Stars
My dash, probably like many, has lots of curves and slopes and virtually no flat surface, so I needed something that would drape easily and stay in place for my new Magellan GPS. This product fit the bill. It stays in place on turns and with the occasional hard braking. The bean bag is a little stiff, meaning that it doesn't drape much on the dash curves, but it doesn't seem to matter. It stays put. I don't know if the bean bag absorbs any road shocks, or if my car's suspension is just good, but my GPS doesn't shake much when going over rough roads, and it's stays in place when I'm tapping at the screen. The GPS sticks easily to the center disc in the beanbag, and I can adjust it without the suction cup disengaging from the disc. A nice side benefit is just lifting the bean bag and the GPS off the dash when I park somewhere and putting the whole thing on the floor where it's more out of sight. All in all, a real handy product. I'd buy it again.

Bracketron UFM-100BL Nav-Mat GPS Friction Dash Pad
If you're a first time GPS user, CAREFULLY consider the placement of it in YOUR particular vehicle. Long sloping windshields make for terrible sightlines and curved dashboards make adherence of the adhesive disc impractical. We considered none of this when purchasing our Tom-Tom XL and were frustrated to realize we had no place practical to put it. Also, keep in mind moveability if more than one vehicle is in the story line. If your GPS doesn't have a lever to increase suction (TOM-TOM DOESN"T!), it WILL NOT stick for long to glass or plastic so you'll need the disc and thereby establish permanancy. The weighted, flexible, AND moveable BRACKETRON has been the perfect solution for up-close dashboard use and though I was leary of it being stable enough, it really does grip its surface and support the GPS weight perfectly. VERY PLEASED with this inexpensive solution.
Customer Review: Works perfect! Summary: 5 Stars
I have a Navigon 7100 and use it with the long windshield mount that is included with the GPS. This allows you to put the mat toward the bottom of the windshield and the GPS unit is still close and right where you need it to be. The concept of not having it semi-permanently attached is beneficial for taking it down to put either on the floor out of clear site or bring it inside to prevent theft. I have yet to see it tip over on my dash or move at all even with the head unit being 4.3" and roughly a foot away from the base making it extremely lopsided. Plus, most mounts keep the head unit close to the base so you shouldn't have any problem with that style either. The plastic was quite shattered when I opened the box but it didn't affect the product at all. I don't think it's obnoxious looking like people have said, it's better than getting a ticket for having it mounted to the windshield. Overall, it's a great piece of equipment.
