Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Bracketron UFM-100BL Nav-Mat GPS Friction Dash Pad

Customer Review: Works Great With the Dash Express
Summary: 5 Stars

I bought this to allow me to mount my Dash Express GPS in rental cars and although both it and the Dash are larger than my Garmin 750 as well as it's Garmin made bean-bag dash mount, it works perfectly! I even bought a second one to add to my old Garmin 350 when I give it to one of my children. I would have bought the Garmin bean-bag mount for the 350 since the Garmin mount is smaller, however, it costs much more.

I travel to both Minnesota and California often (the two states that do NOT allow windshield mounts), plus, I rent cars every week. Some cars and SUVs have deep dashes which make windshield mounting difficult even when allowed by law. This is an excellent solution for those situations. I have never had the mount slip or move regardless of temperature.

Great product, especially for the Dash Express!

Dash Express Two-Way Internet-Connected Portable GPS Navigator

Customer Review: Portable and Steady
Summary: 5 Stars

Before I started using the Nav-Mat Portable GPS mount, I had problems getting my Magellan GPS unit to mount to my vehicle window. I really wanted it to mount to my dash, but it was only a window mount. It was awkward to mount on the window. And when the window is cold, it just won't stick. I also didn't like that I had to remove the mount suction every time that I parked the car, so that it would not be broken into.

With the Nav-Mat mount, I mount my Magellan window mount onto the center of the Nav-Mount, which is a flat disk, surrounded by a life-raft like sandbag with a rubber bottom that does not slide on the dash. I never have to remount it again! I just sit the Nav-Mat/Magellan mount on the dash when I use it, and take it back off when I am not using it. It is so easy! And it does not slide around!

I highly recommend the Nav-Mat mount for dash mounting just about any automotive GPS unit. Also, this is not a brand specific mount, as are some, such as Garmin's.

Customer Review: My evaluation of this device
Summary: 5 Stars

I purchased this device because I didn't want the GPS hanging off my windshield, and because I wanted to easily be able to move the GPS to my other vehicle, and because I wanted to be able to take it out of view when leaving my vehicle parked,
and finally I wanted to easily be able to bring the GPS with me into my house, or hotel room to program it. I use the device to hold my GPS on the top of the dash in
my truck. This puts the GPS at eye-level, closer so I can easily read it. The device is heavy enough and has a rubber under-surface, so it doesn't slide around
when vehicle is turning or stopping. It has a slick center surface so the GPS holder mounts on it the same as it would on the windshield. If you feel the same
as I do about where and why to mount the GPS, I would recommend you buying one of
these devices. It is attractive, of quality material, and well made. This device
makes it so easy to relocate or transport the GPS, it's really worth the cost.

Customer Review: Great item
Summary: 5 Stars

This thing is awesome for a number of different reasons:
1 - Provides an alternative way of mounting GPS units in Minnesota where it's illegal to attach them to the windshield.

2 - GPS is closer to you, therefore easier to read and use.

3 - Doesn't move/slide around at all. Very well made.

4 - GPS unit seems to attach to it quite well. My suction mount was constantly falling off my windshield. On here, not only does it attach well, but you can basically attach the suction mount and have the GPS unit "rest" on the edge around the dash mount. Makes it so that it's much less likely to ever fall off.

5 - Less chance of having my car broken into because of seeing rings on my windshield from where I used to keep my dash mount.

6 - Priced very low and competitive for a quality product that really does make an amazing difference. I wish I would have found out about this product sooner. Can't say enough good things about it.

Customer Review: Solid Pad BUT Go 720 Needs New Mount
Summary: 5 Stars

This pad has been impressively stable on the dash of my car during 2 weeks of use. Caveat emptor: It's not compatible with the Go 720 right out-of-the-box. The sorry little OEM suction mount Tomtom provides is too short (and unreliable) for this or most other pads. But I don't think it's fair to hold this against this (or any other similar pad) for a design short-coming on Tomtom's part; it might be worth the money to buy a new solid after-market mount like the Arkon Mini mount that works just fine with this pad. Take a look at the product pics for more details.

PROS:
- Just chuck it on the dash and it stays put
- Easy to remove and hide from view while parked
- Heavy and stable

CONS (not really a negative but you should consider this point):
- Padding is thick and will BARELY accomodate a Go 720 when mounted on the OEM suction mount; consider purchasing the Arkon TTGO115 mount for the Go 720 for use with this (or similar) pad.
