Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of PowerCost Monitor TMCustomer Review: The monitor works well and gives a good overview of the electricity usage Summary: 5 Stars
Got the BLI-25000 model which is the latest model than the BLI-24000 for which there seems to be lot of negative reviews.
The installation took less than 5 minutes, since I have digital meters with an LED interface, it was really easy to set up.
Once set up, the signal strength showed full strength even in the farthest corners of the house, about 200 feet through wall, from where the transmitter is located outside the house.
The display unit seems to work well for the last 4 months that I have had it, and displays changes within 4-5 seconds of switching on/off a power consuming unit. This unit also shows the time and the outside temperature, and has a cool light switch that glows the display wih a back-light for a few seconds.
All in all, this unit seems like a good investment, since it gives a good idea on the power consumption in the house on an almost instantaneous basis, making everyone in the family more aware of the lights and and energy consuming devices being unnecessarily being on.
I would definitely recommend this device.

I just received my monitor from Nstar about 2 weeks ago. I live in boston and they had a promotion on where I could get it for $30, so I figured I would give it a try. I can't get over how neat it is.
The set up was pretty easy, took me about 15 minutes or so, a little fooling around installing it on my meter. But once I had it set up I was able to see right away how much power my house was using. It has become addictive over the last 2 weeks. I am constantly checking it to see how much money I am spending. Although sometimes I wish I didn't have it because when I turn on my clothes dryer the cost sky rockets I cringe.
I check it everytime before I leave the house to make sure everything is off. I know that if it shows more than $0.04 I have left something on, usually the light in the closet or bathroom fan.
All in all, I am pleased with the monitor, especially for only $30. But be aware, it can become addictive.
Customer Review: Big cost savings & lots of informaiton Summary: 5 Stars
This cost savings meter is an excellent way to learn about your energy consumption in an easy to read format with easy installation. The instructions provided are clear, the software it comes with is helpful. The main thing we enjoyed was the digital display which is easy to read and gives a great deal of information....from current energy consumption, cost of energy, weekly & monthly comparisons to the current temperature.
I would recommend this product to anyone who wants to save money on power and learn what household items are consuming the most or least energy. This power meter will show you in REAL dollars and REAL kilowatts how your conservation decisions are effecting ACTUAL energy useage and your bottom line.
Customer Review: BlueLines PowerCost Monitor Summary: 5 Stars
I purchased this and only had it going for about 1 week and then the massive ice storm of 2009 struck. We were without power for 10 days, so I haven't had much time using this, but it is a great device. With this you can watch the electric meter disk turn faster or slower with each thing turned on. Letting you monitor which items are the most power hungry.
It also has an outside thermometer letting you know the temp first thing in the morning.
Like keeping an eye on the speedometer of your car only better, this helps you keep an eye on the speedometer of your electric bill!
Customer Review: Great product! Summary: 5 Stars
I read an article about a product called a Wattson, which isn't available yet, however this product pretty much does what the Wattson does except for detailed tracking and computer integration.
The package is very simple to set up, all you need is a screwdriver. Batteries are included and the instructions are clear and easy to understand.
This product makes it easy to track real-time KWh usage in your home. For smaller appliances, consider using an in-line watt/amp display meter instead. They tend to show more precise and faster updates to readins.
