Customer Review: Toddler friendly music
Summary: 4 Stars

First, thank you Amazon reviewers! Without you, I would have returned this item a second time thinking it simply didn't turn on. The fact you have to push and hold the play button in addition to turning it on is a pretty important piece of info to neglect to mention. Now that we've actually got it on, the kids (ages 5, 3, and 20 mos) love it. Very easy to use, the 5 and 3 year olds needed no help whatsoever, even figuring out how to skip songs or return to ones that they wanted to hear again. Unlike most kids toys on the market, it is actually a tolerable volume, even cranked all the way up.

A tip for those of you with motorola cell phones: the charger fits the connection for this player, so you can use it to power the player with a plug rather than batteries. Figured that out while trying to figure out how to turn the blasted thing on before I got on here and learned the "hold play" trick.

No way I'd pay over a hundred dollars for this, but on clearance definitely worth it!

Customer Review: Good Product, but some design flaws
Summary: 4 Stars

We got this for our daughter for Christmas. It took my husband several minutes to get the battery cover back on (I worked on it for quite a while and gave up). The way they tell you to insert the batteries are contrary to the way 99.999% of all batteries are installed. Then once you get the batteries installed, and the cover back on, you do indeed have to wait a few moments after turning it on and pressing play before the unit turns on. You then have to press play AGAIN for the song to start. I can not fathom how a child could figure all of that out without parental supervision (We thought ours was broken, like most of you).

HOWEVER!!! Once we got it to play it was great. Pretty good sound quality for a children's toy. I connected it to my computer and was easily able to add the music I wanted to it (using Windows Explorer all I had to do was "drag and Drop" the files I wanted). It was very fast and easy.

Customer Review: Just right for little ones
Summary: 4 Stars

This is a nice little player for little kids (2-5yrs)... To sum it up:

PROS:
- Dead simple, big button controls
- Rugged, rubberized frame looks like to could take a roll down a flight of stairs
- Can play standard MP3s, no special PC/MAC software needed
- Song capacity (256MB) is modest but more than adequate for young kids
- Pre-loaded songs are a plus for that instant-gratification factor

CONS:
- Documentation is slim for transferring files to/from your computer. Shouldn't be a problem for anyone that's used a memory stick, however.
- No obvious way to control the order in which songs are stored. Could be an issue for kids that want their favorite one first.

Our 3 year old loves it... She doesn't need an iPod, she needs simplicity and this fits the bill nicely.

Lastly: shop around for price... It varies dramatically.

Customer Review: Great toy!!!!!!!! My kids love it!
Summary: 4 Stars

My son got this for Christmas and all my children absolutely love it and play with it all day. I will agree with the other reviews that the battery compartment is a poor design and our screws got stripped too when trying to open the battery compartment but my husband managed to get thew screws out. It's also really hard to figure out which way the batteries go in, the directions inside the battery compartment are unclear. I think many of the reviewers who said that the player didn't work after putting new batteries in was probably because they had them in wrong. Once we finally got the batteries in correct the player worked like a charm! You do have to hold the play button down for a couple seconds to get it to play but it works great and sounds great for $30. I can't believe this person is asking $147, they are out of their minds, but it is well worth the $30.

Customer Review: Tough mp3 player
Summary: 4 Stars

I'm surprised that there are so many bad reviews for this toy. We have 2 (rather than have them fight over 1) and they're both working great. They've been thrown across ceramic floors and have kept on functioning. I've uploaded music without any difficulty. I leave the switch on the back in the on position and my 2 year old is so excited that he can turn it on and have control over what he hears easily. My 5 year old also enjoys listening. I was worried about the batteries but we've had it for 2 months without replacing them yet....My only complaint would be that it doesn't have expandable memory (at least that I could see) and we had hoped to upload a bunch of books on cd for night-time listening, but 256mb gets used up quickly!
