Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Belkin F8E060 10-Piece Computer Tool Kit

Customer Review: Built my entire PC using only these tools!
Summary: 5 Stars

I recently built my first PC from scratch using an Antec P182 case and I found that these were the only tools I needed. The main reason I purchased this kit is because the tools are all demagnetized, which most standard household tools are not, and I didn't want to take the chance. The 3-pronged parts retriever (the thing that looks like a syringe) was an absolute Godsend, not only for retrieving dropped screws, but for setting small motherboard screws in tight-to-fit corners that otherwise would've been impossible to set by hand.

The only odd tool included is the insulated chip (IC) clipper, which I have absolutely no use for. If you're setting or removing your own chips on a board, you'll probably want a more robust set of tools than these. I wish they instead included an anti-static wrist strap with this set.

The included case is very handy, especially since I've had to tote it around to friends' and family members' homes acting as the resident PC fixer-upper. FYI: The tool set I got (in June '08) actually had all solid black handles, not orange as pictured here.

Customer Review: Easy 5 Star Tool Kit
Summary: 5 Stars

I just purchased a new laptop and wanted to upgrade it myself. Usually when I work on my desktop or other peoples computers I just "borrow" tools from around my house.

I decided I needed something a bit better, and stumbled across this kit. It came in a nice case, with pretty much everything you need for any type of computer repair. I literally broke down my whole laptop (Dell Studio 17) and installed a second HDD, cloned and replaced my main HDD, installed a Bluetooth module, upgraded from 2gb ram to 4gb, and also added keyboard back lighting.

This Belkin tool kit included everything I needed and more to complete this "upgrade" with ease. The tools feel good in your hand (especially for the price) and with a lifetime warranty you cant go wrong. The only other item I had to purchase was an antistatic wrist band.

I'm very happy with this purchase, and enjoy the size of the kit, it fits perfectly in my laptop backpack, and keeps everything in one place!

Customer Review: All you need to build a PC
Summary: 5 Stars

Of the items included, you'll find yourself using the large Phillips, and the quarter-inch nut driver the most. The nut driver is particularly useful if you're a perfectionist who doesn't want to mar the heads of case screws. The three-finger retractor is wonderful for picking up screws that have fallen into tight corners, and starting screws at the edge of motherboards in small cases. The least used tool is the chip puller, an item I've not had need for since the days when we could add memory chips to video cards. It has a nice, leatherette case. I suggest buying a test tube with a stopper, for holding extra screws and such, and stowing it inside.

Customer Review: Great starter kit.
Summary: 5 Stars

I very recently got my A+ and needed a simple kit to do repairs on my own laptop as well. This one has the basic stuff you'll need - parts grabber, screwdrivers, etc. - and comes in a nice little case. For the price it's a really great deal until I decide to upgrade to the 36 or 55 piece kits (if I ever have to.) The only thing I'd suggest is throwing in a wrist strap and/or mat since all tech folks need them and it's simpler to get everything at once. Otherwise highly recommended to the casual user that does occasional repairs or for tech people it can be an "emergency" or travel kit you keep around just in case.

Customer Review: Great Little Toolkit
Summary: 5 Stars

Has just about everything you'll need for basic computer assembly. Not much more I can add to this review, other than if you're building your own computer, you can't go wrong with this toolkit for it's price. The only tool I would call into question is the "chip remover" (The U-shaped yellow prong thing on the left side of the picture.) It should do it's job well, but it's not absolutely necessary. If it were me, I would remove that, and add in the Belkin Grounding Strap in it's place. Beyond that, perfect!
