Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Belkin CushTop Notebook Stand (Chocolate/Blue)Customer Review: Keeps lap cool Summary: 5 Stars
Although it's not as cushy as its name indicates it might be, I love this thing. It keeps my laptop cooler than it would otherwise be and keeps my laptop from burning my legs (especially when wearing shorts - ouch). As other reviewers have stated, it's not perfect for cooling my laptop, but I definitely notice that the fan in my laptop doesn't run as hard and that the laptop isn't as hot when it is on the Belkin as opposed to my lap, pillow, or desk.
I find that it's better than just using a pillow because the pillows would actually conduct the heat to my lap after prolonged use. Plus, my laptop would sound like it was about to take off, the fan was running so hard. And while I was disappointed by the firmness of the Belkin CushTop compared to a pillow at first, I realized that its firmness keeps it from blocking my laptop's vents and gives greater stability than a pillow. I can set my laptop on top of the Belkin down on the floor or table and not have to worry that my laptop is going to topple off. As another reviewer stated, it is also great for keeping your laptop safe from spills (actually happened once and I was so grateful for the Belkin). All in all, I think that it does what its supposed to do and looks cute to boot.
Customer Review: Protects your laptop from spills! Summary: 5 Stars
The main reason I ordered the CushTop is because of the way my previous laptop met its demise: by a spilled glass of water on the desk flowing under it.
With the CushTop, I feel like I have a very affordable insurance policy against this accident EVER happening again! Beverages and food really can't spill onto/under my laptop now, AND it's at a great height for viewing. The icing on the cake is that it's also very comfortable to use on my lap; no more overheated legs!
This provides a nice, firm support at just the right angle -- it's not "floppy" or soft foam or anything that might make it feel as though the computer would fall off (also, the rubber grips on the laptop itself hold it in place).
Unlike other reviewers, I have no trouble fitting my cords and the charger box thing on the cord into the center opening....perhaps some laptops have bigger chargers? (I have a Toshiba Satellite U305 13.3") I don't think a mouse would fit in there, though...maybe an ACTUAL mouse would, but it might chew up the cords. ;-)
In summary...LOVE IT, LOVE IT, LOVE IT! Buy it, you won't regret it -- especially if you can't help but keep a beverage next to your laptop!
Customer Review: This fits my needs Summary: 5 Stars
I have been using this product for more than a month now, and I like it very much.
I wanted something exactly like this one, so I'm happy.
It is light in weight, surface is soft yet firm form inside makes a stable base for my MacBook Pro13".
I bought this for use in my living room and in my bed.
The shape of the product makes a perfect viewing angle on my lap.
And it protects my lap from heat generated by Mac.
The opening on the side makes it easy to grab and carry my MacBook Pro on top of it.
I don't do anything hard or punish my Mac when I use it off my desk, so I don't have an heat issue.
I only use it when I web surf and/or watch movies.
If someone wants to do a complicated and hard job, I assume they do it at their desk, not in their bed.
Well, may be some will, but in that case, I don't think this product reduces the heat problem.
So if reducing heat is the main reason to buy a product like this, you should consider something else.
Besides reducing heat problems, It's stylish and durable, It's a great buy.
Customer Review: Good for short people too! Summary: 5 Stars
I was concerned about this product because I'm 5'3" with short legs. I half expected to be sending this back because it would hang over my knees and/or put the laptop up so high on my chest I wouldn't be able to work with it.
To my surprise it fits me very well. It does just fit to edge of my knees but I don't feel like it will flip off. Typing height is good. My husband is 6' tall with long legs and he said it's also comfortable for him. This thing is nothing fancy but it does exactly what I need it to do. We use it with the widest side face up because my laptop is 16".
My rating is strictly based on confortable positioning for both short and tall people. I can't address the cooling factor because my new laptop doesn't get hot. Also, I don't use the cubby slot in the middle. It doesn't look to me like you can fit much in there though.
Another plus is the portability factor. It's very lightweight and not as cumbersome as you'd think. We use it for sitting on a recliner, couch, or bed.
Customer Review: Ingenious shape & decent heat management Summary: 5 Stars
My boyfriend and I each have this item in brown/tourmaline. We've had them for several months. I love the color scheme -- it's stylish and matches my stuff now, but since it's mostly brown, it's neutral enough to blend in with other palettes.
I have a 13" Macbook, and I like to sit cross-legged with the pad big-side-up. It rests nicely on my knees that way, with enough space for a small mousing surface next to the laptop. When I'm done, I tuck the laptop inside the pillow to keep my dumb cats from sitting on it. (Nota bene: This only works for slim computers. My little 10" Acer netbook has a fat battery and barely fits.)
My boyfriend has a 14" Compaq that only has fans on the bottom. (Honestly, who designs stuff that way?) It crashes if he leaves it on an upholstered surface or bed, but seems to stay much cooler on the CushTop surface. It's pretty clear-cut: CushTop = no heat crash.
I plan to buy the same model if one of ours wears out.
