Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Belkin BG108000-04 Conserve Energy-Saving Surge StripCustomer Review: These are pretty nice - save engery if that is your thing Summary: 5 Stars
I bought two of these remote controlled surge protectors - one for the Home Theater and another for my computer rig. After hooking all the devices in, and I have many in the HT that draw continous power in stand by mode, I saw a decline energy bill. It was not a whole lot but it did make a difference. What is really nice is after I am done watching a movie or TV I can hit one switch all all the devices power off, nice, except for the cable box - that is plugged into one of the two always on outlets so that it does not have to redownload the guide everytime I power the system up.
Sine installing these I have replaced the HT one with a Belkin power filter because you will never know when lightning will strike. I could still use the switch but I did not want to daisy chain the power filter to the remote surge protector.

I will not go into the pro and cons of power filters here but will say the radio controlled surge protectors are awesome,
and very useful when you need to shut down a room with one switch.
Customer Review: Electrical + social engineering Summary: 5 Stars
The mount-anywhere wireless switch is nice--not elegant looking, but big and functional. While I'm not sure how long it will take to recover the purchase price through eliminated leaking current (quite a long time, I suspect, as my TV is new and uses very little standby current), the Belkin Surge Strip actually saves electricity in a social engineering sort of way. I now find that I don't power my devices into standby mode unless I know that I am going to be using them for a period of time (e.g., to watch a movie or sporting event). So, I'm less inclined to turn the TV on for a few minutes when I happen to be in the kitchen only briefly. Generally, I only turn the surge-protected devices on in the evening and when I know that I'll be using them for a while. Otherwise, I just leave the switch in the OFF state. It's more like TVs, as entertainment devices, were intended to be used, it seems.
Customer Review: Excellent, easy to use remote power strip switch Summary: 5 Stars
Excellent product, push the remote transmitter button and the surge protector switches off. Push it again and the surge protecter turns on. Will definitely save electricity by cutting power to devices that are always on standby.
Only problem with the unit I received was that initially the remote switch would not turn the surge protector on. I thought that I might have to return it, until I checked the frequency settings for the remote switch and the surge protector. Switched them to match and the unit worked like a charm. It seems that the factory set settings did not match.
This highlighted a key feature of this unit. You can use one remote switch to control your entertainment system's surge protector, and a seperate remote switch to control your PC system's surge protector, OR you can use one remote to control two surge protectors.
Customer Review: Great product, it works! Summary: 5 Stars
I knew someone must have invented a product like this. Here it is. Easy to use surge protector that actually turns off the power to those items that constantly drain electricity, even when "off" (and running up the electric bill).
This product is "plug and play". Plug your stuff in (some outlets are for always on, most will turn off the items when they are not being used), put the remote switch in a convenient place, and you're good to go. No knobs to adjust, no frequencies to change. It just works.
I've seen a drop in the electric bill after just two weeks of using the surge strip with the TV and associated accessories.
A very simple way to conserve electricy, do our part for the environment, and save a few dollars at the same time. Does it get any better than that?
Customer Review: just want i needed Summary: 5 Stars
I bought this to turn off TV/VCR/DVD/DSL box/wireless box, all that junk that has a remote and when turned off is really still on, and the internet junk that when I'm not using is always on!!! I plug the satelite box and lamp in always ON, the the rest turns off at the click of the button when I go to bed, same with the internet DSL/wireless adapter box--I thought this would actually take longer to come up but I click the switch and walk back into the office and by the time the PC comes out of hibernation the connection is also ready to go!!! So I actually bought exactly what I needed and am pleased, thought it was a little more money that what it should be, I mean come on... it's a power strip with an easy access button you don't have to reach behind or under the electricals to turn off/on.
