Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Belkin Anti-Static Wrist Band with Adjustable GroundingCustomer Review: perfect for what it is Summary: 5 Stars
When you're working on the inside of your computer, you really should use one of these straps. The likelihood that your data have electric charge in short something out isn't that great, I've done many many repairs before buying one of these, but they're an extra insurance policy that doesn't cost much. The basic idea is that the metal in the strip will ground you when you attach it to the case and equalize any electric charge so it doesn't get transferred to components that are sensitive to shock.
There's really not much more to it. It one side that just clamps onto something, and the other that's cheap Velcro that holds the metal against your skin. It works great and I have no complaints about. To be honest, I can't really think it would matter much which brand you got of these. They all seem to be basically the same design same function. Of course check reviews to make sure it's not some complete piece of garbage, but as a general rule my advice would be just to pick the cheapest unit you can find.
Customer Review: Dont Cook Your Computer! Summary: 5 Stars
I purchased this wrist band along with the Belkin F8E060 10-Piece Computer Tool Kit Ive read many stories about wrecking expensive electronics and computer equipment with static discharge.
This wristband alleviates the problem. Its actually really comfortable too! The connection from the cable to the band is a snap (literally) so not having to "un-ground" every time is very nice.
The Velcro strap is more than big enough for almost any wrist and works on both arms. So far I'm very happy with the wrist band, however I probably wont need it till our dry winter gets here. I did use it though while upgrading my laptop last week...just in case.
Customer Review: Don't Shock Your Computer Summary: 5 Stars
Static electricity can fry a computer. When installing or trubleshooting you use one hand on the case to keep you discharged. When your wired up to the computer it allows you to use both hands. I give it 5 stars for two resons. The price second the 6 foot cable. I missed place my other one I bought to upgrade my first pc the cable was about 2 foot and the price was about 20 bucks so this wristband is great, Other then that, How do you rate this. It works or it don't work
Update found my other one and yes my old is 2 foot I measured it. The clamp does have a boot on it but with no snap. Just one piece the belkin is two piece. With the price and a lifetime warranty I will still give it 5 stars
Customer Review: Great and comfortable Anti-Static Wrist Band! Summary: 5 Stars
I used this band in my recent PC build. I used very expensive components so I wanted to be protected against static electricity. I can report that while using this Band, I didn't have any incidents of static electricity discharge, which means it worked! It is very comfortable on the wrist, I can say that because I have a very wide wrist and still it was very easy to wear. The design is very good as you just connect the clip to a bare metal area on the computer chassis and the cord can extend long enough as to allow you freedom of movement to get parts and work in the computer without problems. Highly Recommended!
Customer Review: Not Too Sure Summary: 5 Stars
I bought this along with the Belkin F8E060 11-Piece Computer Tool Kit, but for some reason I received the 10 piece Tool Kit instead (but they are practically the same tool kit so no big deal). I don't know how useful this Belkin wrist band is for anti-static, but I use it everytime I open up my computer.
Pros: Feels like a product that will last and not rip or tear.
Cons: None.
