Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Belkin USB 2.0 4-Port Ultra-Mini Hub

Customer Review: Simple and Effective
Summary: 5 Stars

I bought 4 of these Belkin Mini Hubs from one of Amazon's partner retailers for business and personal use. One of the four units did not work when received and was promptly replaced by the retailer. All of the other units have been working fine since I bought them 6 months ago. I have been able to get various hardware devices such as external USB hard drives, keyboards, jump drives, printers and cameras recognized by Vista and XP on every computer boot up, with no problems. Getting computer products that work is great! I have one caveat on my purchase which is to make sure that you put the items in your shopping cart and check out the shipping and handling charges because some of Amazon's retailers gouge customers on S and H. After searching for a while, I was able to find an Amazon partner who was reasonable in its S and H charges.

Customer Review: Great way to extend existing powered hub
Summary: 5 Stars

I bought two of these to replace some older USB 1 hubs. I would definitely buy these again - they are cheap, work well and don't take up a lot of space.

I have them attached to another (i-rocks brand) powered USB hub, and all of the ports are in use on all three hubs. Mostly I have just cables coming out of the Belkin hubs, where I attach cameras, phones, mp3 players as needed, but there are a few devices that are constantly connected and drawing power (microphone & mouse I think).

I think the above is probably the ideal configuration and usage for these hubs. The connector cables are very short, so you almost have to daisy-chain them off of another hub or each other. My recommendation is that you have another primary (powered) hub, and just use these to extend the number of devices you can connect.

Customer Review: Best mini USB hub around.
Summary: 5 Stars

PROS: This mini USB hub is better than any other I tried. Very easy to use, highly functional, and easily transports with your laptop. The design is good if you have a bulky USB to plug in, so that it doesn't block any other SUB slots. It even works for the harddrives I plug into its USB slots, from the bulky ones with a power cord, to even the small WD passport harddrives! Plus, it's easy to use. All you have to do is plug it into one of your USB slots, and then plug your items into this Belkin's mini-hub, and it's ready to go. No software needed! I'm very impressed with this. And the price (under $10) is great.

CONS: Only thing I don't like is the short cord. I prefer a longer cord, so that I can more easily plug other items into it.

SUMMARY: Highly recommended if you need more USB slots.

Customer Review: Absolutely PERFECT Product
Summary: 5 Stars

Now living in South Dakota and working on a laptop with only 3 USB ports, I purchased this product for the extra hardware I needed connected. This product is small, and absolutely works perfectly. I would recommend it 100%. The company is also reliable. Although I will add that I ordered on June 9, my tracking information showed delivery on June 14. It did not arrive on that date. That's okay. It did arrive today about 3 pm on June 16. However, in checking my tracking information on Amazon, it still shows "in transit". Also, it was sent through the USPS, and if you use the Amazon tracking number to track through the USPS, it will show as an unknown number. Perhaps not important, but it was a bit confusing to me. Anyway if you need extra ports, this is the one to get, absolutely !

Customer Review: A tight four-some
Summary: 5 Stars

Purchased about 2 months ago, product has worked fine since with multiple USB connectors plugged in at all times into my Dell desktop. I use it at least weekly to plug in USB drives (various brands), camera USB connectors (for a Sony SLR), and/or a backup drive (Iomega) that require no additional power, and the hub does its job of connecting all.

The 4 directions do cause a less than streamlined appearance of the cables, which would be less of an issue if you use it with a desktop that is stored under the workspace area. Not a major issue though.

A possible future product feature (only applicable to desktops) may be an adhesive that would allow plastering the hub to a side of the machine, to reduce dangle of cables hanging from 4 directions out of the hub.
