I bought this to use in my kitchen for my electronics (coffee maker and toaster oven) and electric can opener. This looks nice, has plenty of outlets, and is more than enough protection for these appliances. For my TVs and computers, however, I prefer to use a much heavier duty surge protector made by Belkin. This product might suffice, but when protecting thousands of dollars worth of electronics, I prefer something more substantial.
Update Jan. 25, 2011: Over the past two months I have tried to order another one of these, only to receive model 601 each time (unlike this product, it lacks jacks on the bottom). Despite multiple conversations with Amazon customer service, it appears that they still have not straightened out this mixup. So if you order this product, you may wind up with model 601 instead (which lacks jacks on the bottom).

Let us be realistic for but a moment shall we.
No device designed and determined to be adequate for a given set of task(s) should be misconstrued to be user friendly in all the miriad of other wishful uses.
I recently purchased this excellently designed Belkin item (elsewhere) as a direct result of all of my past positive experiences with Belkin products.
I use it per it's intended usage and it performs flawlessly. In addition, neither do I wish for it to perform beyond it's stated design elements.
Were I in need of other wishful usages, I would consider some other appropriately designed device.
BTW, my device packaging indicates a 1240 joule rating vs 1045 as noted by the OEM.

I just recently purchased this for my TV and 1 week later a mixup caused 220V to surge throughout the house for about 10 seconds. What happened? Some lights went out, the fridge completely burned out and I need a new one, I could smell smoke from something, but....my TV is perfectly OK.
The surge protector no longer works and now I need another one, but at least it's cheaper than a new TV. Oh yeah, I'm now buying units for EVERYTHING in the house, and even if it fails, Belkin has a warranty to replace the equipment, what else could someone ask?

I PUT THESE ALL OVER THE HOUSE NEAR TV'S AND COMPUTERS I LOVE THEM THEY HAVE A LIGHT THAT CONFIRMS IF THE OUTLET IS PROPERLY GROUNDED. IF NOT YOU NEED TO FIX THAT REGARDLESS OF ANY SURGE PROTECTION. THE UNIT SCREWS INTO THE SCREW HOLE IN THE WALLPLATE FOR SECURE MOUNTING. UNLIKE SOME OTHER MODELS, YOU LEAVE THE WALLPLATE IN PLACE AND THIS GOES ON TOP OF THAT.Customer Review: I bought one for every room

This is really good, I migrated to the Southeast where we have major lightening and thunder storms all summer long, so direct lightening hits often during the summer, and would have to unplug my appliances or else they would definitely fry without this. Ten times over I have appreciated this gadget, and use one in every room for electronics and appliances.
