Customer Review: Even better than the n50

Let me start off by saying that I used to use the direction keys on the keyboard for my FPS movements. The Nostromo is wonderfull compared to my old setup. Not only does it offer the same general layout I was used to, it also offers more keys, and they are programmable as well. You can also configure 3 different shift states for all the buttons. In fact, you can program in a combination of key-strokes for a single button. All in all this is a huge step up for me and I've barely scraped the tip of the iceberg. If you are already fully versed in WASD movement then you will not get as big of a gain out of the box but again, the n52 is VERY customizable.
The additional buttons are very nice too. I use the thumb button for my push-to-talk in Ventrillo. I also made a nice macro for Counter-Strike to quickly radio "Enemy Spotted!"

i live by this thing. i've had an n50 for about 1.5 years at this point, and decided to upgrade after the d-pad got a bit too loose and unresponsive for my tastes. the n52 is a great upgrade.
the front area, where you put the pad of your hand, is smoother and larger, which really makes it easier to lay into. the bottom is larger and heavier, which keeps it from moving about (a bit of a problem with the n50).
it comes pre-programmed with the usual awsd config on the keyboard portion and the dpad ready to use, which is how i prefer to use this controller (the dpad is a handy area for things like 'reload' and 'crouch', but is next to useless for movement). the additional buttons are also well placed and easy to use.
if you're looking at either one, you owe it to yourself to get the n52. it'll take your shooter performance to the next level.

The speed pad has taken me quite a bit of time to get used to, and I still only use the buttons without shifting, however, I would buy it again because it has greatly improved my WoW character handling. The best thing I can do with it that I was unable to do before is to strafe and turn at the same time so as to circle my rogue around my opponent, who is usually just standing there.
I'd rate the program that came with it as easy to use and the hardware as durable. I still have a lot to grow into with it, but I'm trying to keep it simple at first. It has not caused WoW or my computer to wobble or hang up. I haven't tried any of the other input devices that are competitors of this one, so I don't have a comparison point, but I definitely recommend this for someone who would like to take his or her gaming to another level.

This has been a godsend for playing WoW for me. It's just night and day. I use the thumbpad as the AWSD keys which allows me to move easily while casting spells/actions. My hand never has to move and my 4 fingers VERY easily learn which button is which. I recommend the logitech 518 mouse to go along with it.
It has also served me well in EQ2 and LoTRO. I'm not sure how it would be in CS, BF2 or other FPSs.
The nostromo can also take a huge beating. This thing is built like a tank and has lasted me years. I tried the Saitek version but it's thumbpad is not a pad, it's a little joystick like thing that broke after 2 weeks of WoW pvp use. I guess I was too rough with it, but it happens in the fast paced action.
Get it, it's not even expensive..it's the best gaming investment I've made for the money.

We got several of these for the office. It really saves time when working with Excel, Powerpoint, Word, SPSS, and ArcGIS. I use A LOT of hot keys to get my work done so this make my work so much faster by allowing me to program multiple keystrokes per key.
I am able to set the keys to work with Explorer.exe so the pad works globally then set each color profile (4 total) to a specific application that I can cycle through.
The only way this could be better is another version for the right hand that has a ball mouse instead of a pad that could be used in tandem with the one on the left.
The only issues I have noticed is the pad will occasionally switch out of a profile for some reason. Probably has to do with setting it to Exporer.exe, however, it is easy enough to cycle through the color profile.
