It appears that if you plug two things into the USB charge ports the device switches back and forth between them. What that means is that if one is an iPhone/iPod you'll hear the "Charging" beep every few seconds. That would probably happen with anything where it beeps when it starts charging.
If the phone/pod is the only thing plugged in then it works just fine.
