Customer Review: A useful addition to your PDA

06-27-09: Still work! Admittedly they aren't getting alot of use these days but they still work and look like new.

Two year update: These keyboards are still working well! Don't drop them or step on them but they do work well. Not getting as much use because the gadgets I had them paired with don't get as much use. They still look new.

I bought this keyboard to use with my PalmOne Zire 72. I looked at the PalmOne website and their chart said it did not work with the Zire 72. I contacted Belkin directly and they said it did work with my Zire. Installation was EASY. I use Mandriva Linux so I could not just run the Windows software included. I simply turned bluetooth on in the PDA, opened the CD on my Linux desktop, right click and sent the file (use driver#2) via Bluethooth to my PDA. Then I set the PDA on the desktop using the keyboard's stand. Pulled out the mirror that folds out above the PDA's IR port, put the keyboard in front of the PDA, turned the keyboard "on" on the PDA in the driver (2-3 steps with the stylus) and I was in business.

It works just like your standard computer keyboard but with smaller keys and more shallow key movement. Several dedicated keys mimic the hard keys on the PDA which call up the calendar, contacts, etc. It had no problems keeping up with my typing speed. WAY, way nicer than trying to o alot of data entry with graffiti (I have messy hand writing).

Next step for me is to look for an open-source word processor (that means free folks just like Linux).

I recommend it, got mine used for $20. I don't think it had been used maybe 3-4 times. Amazon seller told me that it just wasn't compatible with the PDA they owned.
