This is one of the better laptop cooling stands, and at a great price. It is curved along the middle, to allow air to flow to each side of your laptop. Improved efficiency, and makes a nice platform when using in a sitting position. It's made of a stiff plastic, the gray anti-slip strips work well, and is small enough to fit inside a laptop bag. My husband and I both purchased one of these each for both of our laptops. His was defective so he had to return it but mine has been fine. It cools down the laptop nicely. Usually the laptop is so hot that it feels like it could burn you but with this we don't have that problem at all. Overall, this is going to help the laptops last longer and not overheat. I absolutely love this product. My pc is used for online gaming, which is very hard on a laptop and causes extensive overheating. I've tried other cool pads in the past that did a bare minimum help. With this belkin my pc can be running for hours and never even get slightly hot. The design with the arced area for airflow is just awesome. I have used this laptop cooler for the past 2 months. It does a great job of keeping it nice and cool. The fan outlet on my Compaq is on the side, but it still works very well. And yes, I have tested it both with and without using the cooler. My only thought would be having a slightly longer USB cord, but other than that I'm pretty satisfied. So far so good with this piece of equipment. My gateway has a design flaw that doesn't allow it to cool down because the fan is to small or isn't in the right place which causes the laptop to overheat. Ever since I bought this cooler it hasn't shutdown from over heating and has kept it nice and cool. I highly recommend this product.
