Even though this received mixed reviews, I decided to order it anyway, partially because it was in the right price range and partially because it was an Amazon product, thus, free shipping.
Took it out of the box, plugged it into my USB drive and set my netbook on it. Normally, I am practically sweating while using my netbook since it gets so hot. This keeps it and my lap cool, and is unobtrusive to use.
Very pleased.

My laptop is older, and had a problem with getting really hot. I also like working on it while its angled. This product was a great purchase. It keeps the laptop cool, not very loud, and angles it for easy working. It does run on a USB connection to the laptop, which can be a downside, but it is not something that bothers me. I already owned one of these, which I liked, so I bought another one, for my son's laptop. This one works well on a desk or on my lap when I'm sitting in my easy chair (the inlet fan is in the center, and the air flows in OK between my knees). I think all such pads have a problem of air intake if you sit them on top of a blanket or such. It keeps my laptop nice and cool. You can definitely hear it running, but it is not too loud.Customer Review: as designed

First heard about this product on PC magazine. Was very interested in a laptop cooler as I use mine for work and home. I probably shouldn't be impressed when a tech product works the way it is supposed to work, but I am. This may say something about the tech industry or just something about me. This is a powerful cooling pad. I had a three fan pad before but replaced it because it was too noisey. I was worried because this pad only had one fan, but was surprised when I first hooked it up, it is powerful. Its not very noisey and has two nice pads to keep the laptop from slipping around. The bar in the back raises the laptop in a way that makes typing comfortable. For the price it is a great buy!
