My wife got me this nice Laptop Cooling Pad a few days ago. Last night I put it to use for the first time and it was refreshing in more ways than one. It really made typing on my lap while sitting cooler and more ergonomic. Also, it was nice that no external power was needed: it takes power from your laptop's USB port.
The only downside I found: it can be a bit noisy. But then, things are not always perfect. Still, this little pad should be included with all laptops.

OK, it's only been a week, but I am sold on this thing...
My laptop keyboard is actually cool to the touch with this thing, the machine seems to run better, and there is virtually no added noise. The device is very lightly built, but that is consistent with portability. My only concern/modification was to add velcro to the bottom of my machine and to the chillpad because my 17" laptop did not fit easily on the smaller chillpad. The fix was simple and effective.

A must have for laptop owners regardless of whether the unit is portable or stationary. I have read about the disastrous effects heat can have on the system and after much neglect, decided to take steps to help alleviate the problematic area. After some research, I figured Belkin to the the best choice for my situation and came away very satisfied with the product. There are a lot of similar products available in the market. Several that I researched appeared to be flimsy and not worth the money. Several have poor or bad reviews. This device works as advertised and is keeping a 9 year old Dell Inspiron 4100 cool after most if not all the cooling fans have failed in it. I would not run this old notebook continuously for hours, but for the short term that it is used, it now stays cool enough to keep from failing.Customer Review: Works Well - Had It For a Year With No Problems

I have had this cooling stand for a year and it continues to work with no problems. It keeps the laptop cool even when the surrounding temperature is in the 90's. Sometimes the fan rattles at the beginning but stops after a few minutes. It slides quite nicely into my laptop bag so I can carry it from site to site. It's really light so it does not add noticeable weight to the laptop bag. I have just bought a second one. Looks good with Mac products.
