Let me start by saying that many of the reviews I read about this product were a little too serious.
One: The thing costs @ $35. Please don't expect 5 years of constant use. We pay more for electronics that last less than that.
Two: The fan is not that loud...typing this review is much louder.
Three: My six year old nephew figured out how to get the stand/stabilizer down without any problems.
It's the only one that actually blows air onto the bottom of the computer. All others just suck hot air out. My computer is no where near over heating, it's stable on the rubber strips, and on top of it all... it's good looking.
Buy it.

The IT department at work bought me this Belkin stand, because my tiny, Lenovo X60, which I love because it's fast, powerful and light, gets so hot that you could fry eggs on the palm rest. My old fashioned leather palm rest cover broke, and I was afraid that I would either have to get rid the laptop or have permanently scalded palms.
The cooling stand solved dual problems of heat on the bottom of the computer and also on top surface. It's quite quiet--the noise it does make is of the white sort that dampens other noise. It's very good looking and light to carry around. I am buying another one for use at home. I couldn't be happier.

This pad is great for notebook PC's and Macs. Notebooks tend to run a little hot when they're plugged in and recharging. The Cooling Pad's fan does a great job of dispersing the heat efficiently, with a minimum of fan noise. Any machine runs better when it doesn't overheat, and my Mac stays cooler, which I'm sure will help it last longer.
The Cooling Pad is great as a table stand, and the front leg can be folded in so that it sits on your lap, too, although you have to be conscious of not blocking the fan input located at the bottom center of the pad.
Overall, a very good product at an affordable price.

I have had my Belkin F5L001 for over 1 year now, with no fan failure. The fan is not as quite as it used to be but this unit is very good at cooling and the fact that it blows air into the laptop to cool, is the reason, IMHO. I have taken mine apart a few times to give it a good cleaning, but other than that nothing special. I use a tv tuner a lot and that creates a lot of extra heat and it keeps the laptop at a temp of 102 deg running for hours. 102 deg is just a high temperature for us humans. Without the cooling unit it tops 114-120 deg at times. I have my laptop on daily 12-20 hrs with no heat related issues ever.Customer Review: Cools the Macbook well, keeps it at a decent height

After using this product regularly for a year with my Intel Macbook, I have found this stand to be effective and durable. Level of abuse is moderate -- the stand has been thrown into my laptop bag frequently for work. No problems with the fan or USB cord. Based on a temperature widget on the laptop, the stand and fan cools at least 10-15 degrees Celsius (from 60 to about 45-50). Noise from the fan is minimal and easily ignored. From an ergonomic standpoint, the stand helps position the laptop at a comfortable typing and viewing angle. An excellent purchase overall.
