After reading some of the reviews here I thought I was in for a long drawn out process to set this up. I read a couple reviews that cautioned about using the one-touch setup. But I figured, I planned on it taking the whole Saturday, what the hay!!, so I started there. I put the range extender on top of the Belkin G router and plugged it in. I had the Belkin tech support number at the ready as I pushed the button and watched the 10 seconds go by on my watch and released the button. Within seconds it found my router. I unplugged it and moved it to its new location. It kept searching at the new location so I pushed the button for another 10 seconds and within moments of the button release it was reconnected to the router. I did disable the password protection during the process, and I do have a Belkin G router. Maybe that made the difference, but I couldn't have asked for it to be any easier!

I must say, I approached this product with some trepidation after reading several of the reviews here. Let me put potential buyer's fears to rest. This is an excellent piece of equipment. We had very weak wireless signal on our second floor. I monkeyed around with relocating our primary access point, to no avail.
I ordered this range extender, set it up according to the instructions posted here by several others, and it connects seamlessly. We now have a full five-bar signal throughout our house (and beyond!). Note: You can find the manual in PDF format on Belkin's web site or on the CD that's in the box. If you read the manual, and FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS, the device will work fine. I had it working in 20 minutes.
As others have stated, do not use the quick set-up guide unless you have an unsecured network. If you have a secured network, and are expecting this to just plug in and work right out of the box, forget it and look elsewhere, or call your local geek to come and set it up for you.

I am using my friend's internet connection. His signal was of average strength (2 bars).
The installation was tricky. The manual says to press the autoconnect button, but when i did, it always picked up some other network's signal. So i had to attach the device to my computer with an ethernet cord. Now i changed the ip address of my LAN to 192.168.2.100 and the subnet mask came up automatically. I had to disable all my firewalls and internet connection. After that i typed 192.168.2.254 in my internet browser and after 2 or 3 attempts the configuration setup opened. From there i selected my friend's internet connection. Then i disconnected the device from the computer and moved it to a different room. It connected to the network in few seconds and i got 5 bars on my computer. Signal strength all around the house is great.
p.s. This will create a whole new network with a distict name. If you choose the same name, there will still be 2 different networks with same name.

First of all, thanks for all the reviewers here who provide more information than the manufacturer. The setup was very easy because of the instructions here. I really appreciate it. FYI, I use the 128 bit WEP encryption and had no problem to set it up.
Before I bought this product, I was afraid that this range extender might not work well with the Wireless N router that we are using, Linksys WRT160N. Fortunately, Belkin extender works great with WRT160N. And I was surprised by its coverage. We installed it to expand the coverage of the internet connection of our church, which is huge. Now we get at least 3 or 4 bars out of 5 anywhere in our main building. We used to get 0 bar (no connection) since the router was installed in the office located in the different building connected to the main church building. I am really amazed what this small device can do. I am very happy.
I recommend you to read good reviews here before you buy it.

This product does what it says and is a very good price. After reviewing other boosters - they sounded complicated to set up with no guarantee that they would work. Other boosters are also expensive. My main router is in basement and I bought this so my laptop would have a better signal strength upstairs in my bedroom. My laptop used read a "low" signal strength. I put this booster in my bedroom after initial setup and now my laptop reads "excellent" signal strength. I am able to surf internet faster and I am now able to watch movies instantly on Netflix, however this only works if no one is using the other computers in the house. I think Netflix needs to improve there "watch instantly" signal for households. I did have to press the reset button on this booster a couple times to get it working correctly, so don't give up easily after initial setup. I did not have to install the CD that came with the booster.
