This 4-pin to 4-pin firewire cable was exactly the cable I needed to connect my 10+ year old digital camcorder to a computer. I had not used my camera in a while, and none of the cables I had seemed to work with any of the computers I now own; the local electronics stores did not carry anything that would work; but my laptop had a 4-pin firewire port, and so did my camera, and I was able to find this cable on Amazon. I bought this product online at amazon. It arrived as expected and is providing more than expected results.
I had my MiniDV casette which I wanted to convert to a
DVD on Windows Vista.
This thing worked without any issue and gave perfect streaming even when working with applications while copying was being done.
Would recommend it to everybody who has a MiniDV and requires it to transfer it to DVD or CD.

This item was exactly as described and works just like it is designed to. It's only 3' which limits how far away from the computer you can sit the video camera. But this length was perfect for me, that's why I went with this size. The transfer is is great and easy, my computer detected it immediately and gave me options for transferring. I had ordered a cheaper cable on eBay and it did not work with my Sony Camcorder even though the product specifications said it would. I was sent a cable that was different from the picture of the one I ordered. Not good and I returned it.
This cable worked flawlessly. I connected the cable to my computer, then to my Sony Digital 8, TRV 460, turned the camera on, and it worked immediately. I'm very pleased.

I bought this cable in order to replace my broken one. My old one was six feet long and so stiff that after only 2 months of use it ceased to function. This cable in the instances that I used it so far has worked perfectly with great picture and easy connectivity. Along with the fact that its only three feet long and costs a third of what I paid for my original cable its a great piece of hardware at a bargain price.
