Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Belkin 12-Outlet Home/Office Surge Protector with Phone/Ethernet/Coaxial Protection and Extended CordCustomer Review: A happy puppy Summary: 5 Stars
Great layout of jacks - long cord - heavy duty - great value for money
I checked several brick and mortar stores in my area and couldn't find any surge protectors that had more than 8 jacks all placed either vertically or horizontally, and all with short cords that barely reach my outlet. That's exactly the number of jacks I now need, but the problem is that two of my devices have transformers attached to their plugs. When they're plugged in, each uses only one jack, but it's so big that it blocks another jack which prevents the blocked jack from being used. With an 8 jack surge protector, I'm now two jacks short. That would force me to buy a second surge protector. Not this puppy. I'll take this one, pay a few dollars more, get one of the sturdiest ones available, and still save money over purchasing two less expensive ones.
No lightning strikes yet after a month of operation, but I was awakened one morning a few years ago to the sound of a small firecracker when lightning struck. The surge protector I had at that time did its job, so I have evidence that these products work.
The only weakness I found with this product is that you can have any color cord you want as long as it's black, but I knew that before the purchase, and I'd buy it again over other options.
Customer Review: Did its job quite well Summary: 5 Stars
I purchased one of these about a year ago, mostly because I was running out of outlet space and I figured, "Eh, it's probably a good idea to put one of these in front of my stuff." I've never used a proper surge protector before, just the cheap power strips you get at home improvement stores.
Never again will I go cheap.
We had a large storm one night. Apparently lighting hit the nearby substation and many neighbors lost a lot of electronics: microwaves, washing machines, FiOS routers, computers, TVs, phones, the whole bit. I checked my stuff... nothing came on. Oh no! Then I smelled this power strip: it got fried. Smelled burned, and the lights flickered a little bit when I turned the switch on.
I tested each of my electronics individually in the outlet to which this was connected... each one worked. This thing saved my 50" HD TV, my stereo receiver, my DVD changer, my computer, monitor, router, external hard drive, and printer.
I didn't even bother with the warranty because I was so happy with the job it did. It performed perfectly. I bought another one that same day.
Incidentally, this is the same surge protector we use at work.
Customer Review: No Problems so far. Summary: 5 Stars
It's kind of hard to know a surge protector is working until it doesn't and then you have expensive toys to replace. Fortunately for me, as far as I know, my surge protector is working fine. No problems to report so far. This is my second Belkin surge protector (not to mention numerous smaller products), and I've had no problems with my 1st one in the last 2-3 years that I've had it so I decided to get another for my entertainment center.
The things I like about it are:
1) Price - it's a lot cheaper then some of the comparable models, but still from a name brand I trust.
2) Flat/slim plug - makes it easier to plug in behind my dvd rack.
3) Plug outlet layout - It can fit the plugs for all my peripherals easily.
4) Hasn't fried my TV - always an important consideration with a surge protector.
My only dislike would be its size. It takes up a lot of room, but that's a trade off for it's outlet layout which allows you to use all 12 outlets instead of blocking some of them like you would on many standard spaced outlet surge protector.
Customer Review: Very Good Product Summary: 5 Stars
The product does what its intended to do, no error noises, lights or anything just working great, bought it 2 months ago never stop working for now...LOL, is intended for medium house use, cumputers, printers, routers, camera charger, etc, most of the house apliances, i do not recomended for expensive computers ($3000 and up), expensive TV's or any expensive electronic because is not design for that matter those kind of electronics need back up battery power, more electrical sensitivity, and high end components to get a long and safe electronic life
anyway the design is very well done allow to use several box shape chargers, and adapters, and regular plugs, very good product.
a side note, it is hard to find this protector in retail stores like best buy, frys, etc, so you will problably end it with a more cheap product with less features for a more expesive retail price, or a more high end protector very expesive but not what you actually need, this protector is in the middle of that, great price, great features, and great quality.
Customer Review: Well thought out and engineered Summary: 5 Stars
I've got a lot of computer peripherals and this surge suppressor does a good job of providing lots of standard 3-prong outlets (NEMA-5) that you can actually use with both normal plugs and the oversized transformers that come with a lot of devices that need direct current. Most surge protector designs don't allow enough room for transformers and you lose half or more of your outlets because they are blocked by the transformers.
The unit can be wall mounted or mounted under you desk to hide your rats nest of cables and it has cable guides at the end to control the cables so they don't stick out.
Coax, network (RJ-45), and phone (RJ-11) are also very usable and well placed. Lastly Belkin thoughtfully angled the wall plug so that you can plug it in in tight spots without having the cord stick out away from the wall, and because it is angled at 45 degrees you can also easily plug it into a crowded UPS (battery backup) without problems.
Overall this is a well thought out and engineered product!
