I just bought a Panasonic LCD that only has a digital optical output (be aware - many, many, especially newer tv's, only have this style of audio output). Fortunately, found my Sony home theatre has an optical input. Hookup was simple. This is for the bedroom where I need to use headphones during the night as I live in an apt with thin walls. Since the tv does not have a headphone jack, but my surround does, I am receiving excellent sound quality through the headphones via the tv/surround system hookup with this digital cable.

I recently bought a new 52" HDTV and 7.1 850 watt sound system and needed cables to hook it up. While I was searching for the video cables I saw this cable and thought "why not, it will replace 2 bulky audio component cables with 1 small optic cable" It was priced right and delivery was fast, when I hooked it up the sound quality and volume doubled and I was amazed. Now there is less clutter and I can realize the full extent of my systems capability. If you have fiber optic capability then you really should use it, you won't be sorry.Customer Review: Great Buy

I am not an audiophile per say but I can appreciate surround sound and high quality sound. I used this cable to connect my Vizio soundbar to my Sony Blu-Ray player. It works great and enhances the quality of the movie-watching experience. The connection in the back of the soundbar is a little loose, but I suspect that is the soundbar and not the cable. For the roughly $2.50 I paid for this cable I am satisfied with the quality and was impressed how quickly it arrived in the mail. As long as the optical fiber is intact, the ends are smooth (to allow coupling of the light to/from the fiber) and the length is reasonable (to keep signal loss at a minimum), it's pretty much impossible for an optical cable not to work. And since the signal is in digital form, what enters one end will be exactly the same at the far end. This cable is no exception. It works. It's cheap. If you need a 6' optical cable, you can't get more value for your dollar than this guy.

More and more today you see people saying that overpriced cables are overrated. These people would in fact be telling noting but the truth. While many of us know that a higher price point does not necessarily equal higher quality, there are still those out there who may believe just that. When you buy a cable from a company such as Monster, you pay a premium for their name, nothing more. Spread the word my friends, this cable (as well as others) are just as good, if not better, than any overpriced item found in stores.
