Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of PCD Basics Fiber Optic Audio Cable - 6ft (1.8M)Customer Review: Impossible to beat for the price Summary: 5 Stars
I've ordered four of these in the last few months, and have spent barely half of how much I would have spent if I had purchased it from a certain MONSTER cable company.
Not much to say, they work well, are of surprisingly high quality for their price. (I had low expectations) I'm using them for a Bluray, Cable box, DVD player, and Xbox 360 and have had zero problems.
I purchased the bulk of these from Eforcity, although I got a few from Vortex as well. They showed up in nice plastic baggies, and seemed well packed. I'd recommend both of the vendors for their fast shipping.
Bottom line: cheap, good quality, gets the job done.
Customer Review: Perfect on my system Summary: 5 Stars
This cable has worked great for me. I use it to connect my HDTV to my stereo and my Playstation 2 to my stereo. Previously, I've always used coaxial digital audio (DVR to stereo and CD player to stereo). The TV and PS2 don't support coaxial, only optical, so I had to go with this cable.
The cable works perfectly. Much, much better than the far pricier alternative. I've had no issues. Since you're moving digital, quality of the cable is irrelevant. So long as the light can make it, you're good to go. Optical is superior to coaxial here, because there's no potential for RFI/magnetic interference, so the quality of the cable is even less relevant.
Customer Review: Don't be fooled by those "Monster Cables" Summary: 5 Stars
I bought 3 of these, in case that one did not work, as I was weary because of their price. All 3 worked, which is great! As an IT tech, these cables are a no-brainer to purchase compared to those outrageously priced monster cables, in which most of the price is advertising. Digital signals are sent in series of 1's or 0's and it's black and white concerning quality sound (either the reciever gets them or not) so sound quality transfer is not an issue. This is different from analog signals, in which fluxuations in freq. dictate the sound you get. For the price of one monster cable, you could buy 100 or more of these and be a whole lot happier!
Customer Review: Better than expected Summary: 5 Stars
After reading the highly mixed reviews, I was wary of ordering this cable. Eforcity shipped within reasonable time and the cable arrived in perfect condition. The connectors fit snugly in my Sony DVD player and Yamaha receiver and do not fall out. The protective caps are attached to the cable as shown, preventing them from getting lost. Many reviews could not believe how thin the cable was, but I found it to be very durable and plenty thick. I honestly could not believe the quality for this price. If the mixed reviews scare you, I would be sure to order from Eforcity. The sound quality is excellent without cutouts or problems of any kind.
Customer Review: Great for the money. Summary: 5 Stars
It's super thin and not very solid. Honestly though, for $2, I'm not complaining at all. If you want a more quality cable that's still pretty cheap, get the Amazon Basics one for $7 or $8. If you just want as cheap as possible, this works.
To be fair, since it's digital, you either get sound or you don't... there's not much of a quality difference in the actual sound like there is for analog cables. It's really just being more worried about a thin cable kinking... which I'm not concerned about for two reasons: 1) I'm not messing with the cables often and 2) it's only $2 so I'll just get another if something happens to it.
