Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of PCD Basics Fiber Optic Audio Cable - 6ft (1.8M)Customer Review: They do an excellent job Summary: 5 Stars
I know I am the umteenth reviewer to say that these cables do everything much more expensive cables do, but here it is again.
I just bought a 52" Sony Bravia HDTV, and although the picture was great, the sound was just OK. Actually "just OK" is charitable compared to the quality of sound you get by adding a decent receiver & speakers.
I bought this cable to connect my new Onkyo HTS 5200 system to my HD cable box, and it works as expected. I originally connected the standard round white and red ended cable supplied by the cable company (Cox) and the sound was not as good.
An audio optic cable is the only way to go. Why spend several hundred $ on a decent receiver and speakers, and not spend just a few extra bucks to get optimal sound?
Do you really think Amazon.com is going to risk its excellent reputation by selling junk? I'm not saying some reviewers did not get bad cables - it happens. I do know that any reseller selling through Amazon is going to stand 100% behind their product and make it right at no additional cost to you.
I know from personal experience that if there is any kind of problem, it is going to be you and Amazon vs the vendor, and the vendors know this. That's the best odds you're going to get on any purchase. And when you add in the fact that you don't have to drive to the store and have some pushy salesperson trying to sell you grossly overpriced cables that do exactly the same thing, it is a no brainer.
Why are you still reading this? BUY THIS CABLE!
Customer Review: I'm ordering more of these Summary: 5 Stars
I haven't gotten a better deal in my life. I bought a couple of these, one replaced an older cable I paid $30 for in the store brand new when I got my audio system... a few years behind the lonely AV cabinet and that cable bit the dust (no kids, no pets, not sure what disturbed it)... but I know fiber optic cables are hard to get right and easy to break. I got these in the mail and couldn't believe what they sent me for three bucks each! A cable at least four times thicker than the last one. I feel like I robbed someone. I cannot believe the quality of cables like this on amazon, I ordered three HDMI cables and two of these babies the same day and all five cables exceeded my expectations five times-fold. The quality matches (and I would say two of the HDMI cables I received actually pass Monster's offerings) Monster's "marketing" cables except getting them for this cheap doesn't make you a 'Monster Marketing' sucker. These cables would easily tie a Monster in a race, if not beat them. Excellent sound quality, excellent construction (I've seen quite a bit of cables in my line of work, lots of bad ones, so I'm impressed and satisfied that all cables I ordered from Amazon were grade-A.) Oh, and the connectors on these cables scared me for a second. I had to push significantly harder then my old cable to connect them, but once they were in, I realized that's probably how they're supposed to be to begin with. They're snapped in snug now, not going anywhere until I move them! Thank you!!
Customer Review: bought 2, now buying 2 more Summary: 5 Stars
I had toslink cables from Sony, Monster and RCA. I needed two more cables because I was integrating a Nyrius SW201 HD Component Video switcher to give me more component inputs because my TV has run out. My RCA toslink cable was hooked to my Tivo Series 3 and it would never "click" but I could get it to stay in the plug so I had just lived with it. Once I got everything in I started to change cables around. I found the new cables I had received worked in all of my compenents which means they clicked and fit nicely in the connectors. My devices are a Tivo Series 3, Sony s360 Bluray, Onkyo Receiver and the Nyrius video switcher I bought on Amazon.
These new cables work in all devices and clicked into place. I found by moving the RCA cable from my Tivo to my Sony Blueray allowed it to click. Now all my cables are snaped into place and these two new ones are working great. I am ordering two more because I have a new device comming that need a Toslink cable.
I don't doubt the people who say the cable didn't fit properly with their devices because my RCA brand cable worked with some devices but not all. However these cables worked great with the devices I have listed.
Customer Review: Weird pricing structure SAVED ME A TON OF MONEY! Summary: 5 Stars
I'm using these Toslink cables for an 8-channel ADAT digital audio link between my Tascam DA-88 and Akai DPS24 digital audio workstation. The cables are quite nice -- all individually wrapped in plastic. They look just like a Toslink cable, and work without problems. I have 4 times the digital audio data as a typical stereo system. I just pluggedd them in and they worked.
Most Toslink connections are stereo SPDIF, but if you are looking to connect your 8-channel ADAT equipment together or maybe like I was, to connect you ADAT gear to your Akai MPLP (multi-purpose light pipe), THIS CABLE WILL WORK and does not cost a ton of money.
Seems like I'm mostly paying for shipping, but that's OK. Shipping was less than it would cost me to drive to Best Buy, where I would have the privilege of paying TEN times as much (total cost). I bought 4 because they were so reasonably priced. Still cost me less then I would have paid for one at Best Buy. I'll be replacing some of my wired coax connectors with the optical ones.
Customer Review: Identical to higher priced ripoffs by Monster and the like Summary: 5 Stars
As stated in other reviews, bits are bits. If they get from one system component to another, you're doing just as well with a $5 cable as a $60 one. Monster and other companies are ripping consumers off with gobbledeygook buzzwords designed to obscure the mind and open the pocketbook.
I have installed this cable in my system, and its performance delivering 5.1 channel audio and DTS from my PS3 to my receiver is flawless. It performs identically to the other more expensive optical cable I have.
As of my last check of this product page, $1.31 as a list price and $2.98 for shipping makes for a total of $4.29. This is an outrageously good deal, beating even many other discount outlets. If you have a receiver that uses optical digital for audio input (as opposed to HDMI, which most newer receivers utilize), you simply can't go wrong. A definite must-buy at this price.
