Customer Review: NOVICE SAYS A+
Summary: 5 Stars

WE HAVE AN OLDER COMPUTER HOOKED TO OUR 42" PLASMA AND USE IT MAINLY FOR VIEWING NETFLIX MOVIES ONLINE. ALLS I WANTED WAS A BASIC KEYBOARD AND MOUSE COMBO THAT I COULD SIT ON THE COUCH AND USE WITHOUT ANY WIRES. THIS PRODUCT IS PERFECT. I DONT USE IT EVERY DAY BUT CAN TELL YOU IT HAS ALWAYS WORKED WHEN NEEDED. MANY OTHER PRODUCTS ARE AVAILABLE BUT THIS HAS SUITED OUR NEEDS TO A (T)

Customer Review: Works Great 5 Stars

Worked right out of the box. I am using it with my mythbuntu system on my big tv set in the living room. Came with batteries that I am still using after 6 month. Range could be a little bigger but works still when I am sitting on my couch.

Will probably buy another one when I set up my mythbuntu system in the bedroom.

Can only recommend Review: Good and almost great
Summary: 4 Stars Like many others, I bought this to control a PC connected to my HD television, mainly to play multimedia files. It is extremely sturdy, easy to set up, and works very well. And the handles are especially nice. However, I have a really hard time controlling the joystick, which really dampens my enthusiasm for the keyboard. It might take me an extra 10 or 15 seconds to position the cursor over a small button or window control, and the effort of moving back and forth and constantly skipping by or missing the target is extremely frustrating. I've been using the thing for more than a week now, and It's not getting any easier. I also don't care for the non-standard key layout, which has important keys that are smaller than they should be ("Enter" for example) or in strange places, or both. One of the main reasons I got the keyboard was so that I could use it without having to use both hands, look at the keyboard, or keep it in a single location. Having a keyboard layout that's unfamiliar and hard to learn really makes that difficult. The supplied driver is little help. You can't use it to customize the keys or, more importantly, fine-tune the joystick/mouse. Even with these significant objections, I have to give the device four stars. It still appears to be a durable high-quality device but is incredibly cheap at $29.95 or whatever. If I could better manage the joystick I would give it five stars.

Customer Review: Very comfortable for living room use
Summary: 4 Stars

Updated review: Great long term durability, but if you drop it face down , the joystick is breakable because it protrudes. I'm about to get my third. This is a great unit for accessing from couch, or ?? (I use up my laptop as a portable TV and entertainment center while in the tub or bedroom instead of buying another TV and cable box hookup.) The handles are especially useful and comfortable. The joystick takes awhile to get used to, but I now find it easy to just operate with my thumb while holding the keyboard.

Mostly I use this in my living room to control my HP multimedia computer. I use my computer to control the TV channels and DVDs. I don't want a seperate mouse that has to be on a flat surface. This has a toggle joystick/mouse built into the keyboard. Its easy to use, and felt very natural after only a day. The smooth handles on the sides are very comfortable, and consistent with a keyboard that gets carried around, left on the couch, or used in a reclining position. The signal could be better, because it doesn't seem to work so well out of direct line of sight of the receiver. Highly recommended as an inexpensive option for a keyboard that is not being used at a desk. It is not a desk keyboard but the keyboard is fine for typing emails from my lap or coffee table.

Customer Review: great for HTPC, joystick is driving me nuts
Summary: 4 Stars

I'm using this this for my HTPC with Windows 7RC(64 bit). I didn't have to install any drivers and according to the manual you shouldn't have with XP and above, unless you want to reassign the hot keys.

The biggest issue is the joystick drives me to distraction. You may not be able to tell from the picture, but it's a spring loaded analog joystick in the upper right. I've no problem with the stick or location; the problem is how it moves the cursor. It moves the cursor across the screen just fine, but you have to use a fair amount of finessing to move it small distances to select various options in dialog boxes. I'd love to see a driver that would add some kind of ballistics to cursor movements. Another possibility would be to have a thumb track ball instead of the joystick

This is really a small nit compared to my overall happiness with the keyboard. It's constructed solidly, the key strokes have good feel, and the hot keys work well. Even though I'm wresting with the joystick, it has a well constructed feel to it. Let me put it this way, I'm using it right now to type this from my couch with my HTPC hooked up to my 52 inch LCD TV.
