Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of BTC 9019URF Wireless Multimedia USB Keyboard w/ Dual Mode Joystick MouseCustomer Review: Amazing HTPC wireless keyboard - especially considering the price! Summary: 5 Stars
I have been searching for a great RF remote keyboard and mouse for a bit for my new HTPC. After finding this one, I did not think it's low price <$25 would indicate any quality. There was a lot of thought put into this keyboard/joystick/mouse combination.
1. Wireless RF - works up to 30 feet away and through walls
2. Mouse / Joystick - can function as one or the other
3. Multimedia keys - can be programmed to your choice for email, volume, etc
4. Layout - it is somewhat of a compact keyboard but comfortable enough to type awhile
5. Bottom - it is sculpted to fit on your lap so it is comfortable using this on the couch
6. Software - allows you to have an onscreen menu for office docs, multimedia and surfing controls
7. Battery indicator on your task bar!
8. No LEDs on the keyboard to preserve battery life, these are on the taskbar icon
9. No lag - it seems instant when the mouse moves and when the keys are pressed
10. Sleep key! This is a great addition, put your HTPC to sleep and wake it by pressing another key
Only downside is that the joystick is not as responsive as a mouse or touchpad, it works good enough, but I use my iPhone with Air Mouse Pro as a touchpad/keyboard to supplement this one.
Customer Review: Best Living Room Keyboard Summary: 5 Stars
I've had this keyboard for almost two years now and still love it. I keep looking around to see if it comes back, as I have several friends that like this too. Most couch surfing keyboards come with either a trackball, which tends to gum up, or simply not work well after a year or so of use. Or have a touchpad that is too sensitive to being jarred about. This one has a joystick, which is a little slow and/or inaccurate, is a far better option for the couch. The size is a bit bulky, and I was put off by it at first, now I love it. I'm not afraid to pass it off to someone, like the smaller more expensive keyboards, it fits on the coffee table's shelf and is easy enough to grab. Really wish they'd bring this back. I got it as an impulse purchase at a major electronics chain, as it was my 4th couch surfing board at the time, and is still imho the best one ever made for that purpose.
That said, it's worth mentioning that you will not want to use this as a desktop board. You also, as others mentioned, won't want to use it for any non-casual use. For what it is, it's simply the best configuration I've seen and/or used.
Customer Review: perfect for what I needed Summary: 5 Stars
The first thing I noticed, that it came with batteries. And not just that, they were brand name AA batteries. Wow, how nice. I will have to say that is a first for me getting name brand batteries with electronics.
I plugged this thing in my Quad Vista 64bit SP1 machine, and bam, went right to the internet, got the drivers and started working. HELLO! I never used the disk, but all of the functioned seem to work with the drivers Vista downloaded. I was pleased it recognized it right away.
I would recommend this keyboard, it is affordable. I have only had it for a few months with light use, so I don't know about the durability yet. But, so far overall I have had no problems. I can even use my regular keyboard, this keyboard, a wired mouse and a wireless mouse all at the same time, with no issues. Not to mention my infra red- remotes for the PC. Yes, as you guess I am running media center....
Customer Review: Fantastic Wireless Keyboard Summary: 5 Stars
This is my first wireless keyboard. My computer is the Asus Eee pc 1000. It has a 10 inch screen and is the perfect netbook. I thought it would be interesting to hook it up to my 40 inch LCD TV. So I plugged an 18pin VGA cable from my LCD TV to my Asus pc, plugged the BTC wireless usb dongle into my Asus PC, pressed the connect button on the dongle , installed the 2 included AA batteries into the bottom of the keyboard and I was up and running in no time with out any software!! Windows XP automatically installed the keyboard drivers. WOW, what a keyboard. Buttons that automatically load my email, my FireFox browser, easy web page up and down controls, mouse joystick that works just fine, laptop volume controls and much more. Now I can operate my 10 inch screen laptop on a 40" screen perfectly. I have been emailing all my friends about this device! Well worth the price, I love it!
Customer Review: High quality wireless 'couch' keyboard Summary: 5 Stars
I've had this keyboard for years now and it is still working quite well for me. They keys are not cramped and it even has a full size backspace! The keyboard has a quality feel to it and a decent tactile feedback on the keys. Works great for a HTPC setup. The handles are great for when you want to pick it up and the bottom is contoured to your legs. The joystick works well if you don't want to have a separate mouse to loose (trust me, I lost a Gyration mouse before this...I think it fell off the arm of the couch and into the garbage!). Although it's not as fast as a mouse it gets the job done for occasional/light use. It helps to turn up your mouse acceleration on your PC to max. The software will let you know how good your batteries are and gives you some shortcuts on the joystick so you don't have to move the mouse pointer quite as much.
