For a 2.0 set of speakers, these do the trick. While the bass is not booming, it is better than I thought a 2.0 set could be. Sound quality is very good on most anything one would want to listen to, with the exception of any bass heavy song, some electronic does sound good however. These speakers also get very loud, I hooked up my Xbox 360 and iPod at the same time and was totally blown away. Explosions in Halo 3 were not too bad, and the sound is enveloping. For the price, they are a good buy, just wish they had a power button to turn off the speakers while not in use but it is not a deal breaker. Piano, classical, rock, alternative, it all sounds very good on these speakers.Customer Review: Faithful Bose customer

This is my fourth Bose product purchase. I started with the Bose single disc CD player which I have had for over 10 years and it still sounds as good as it did when I purchased it! My next purchase was the earbuds. Again clear, crisp sound. Next, I wanted a pair of headphones and could not imagine spending $300 for them but ordered the noise cancelling pair. I was amazed at the sound and they really cancelled the noise. Needless to say, I cannot imagine having any other brand. Recent purchase, the Companion 2 speaker system sound is even better than I expected but, on the other hand, I expect only the best from Bose. Bose makes excellent quality merchandise!! I've just got a pair of these and was disappointed by the buzzing noise from the left speaker (mentioned in many of the 2 star reviews on here). Well, I decided to try everything before returning them as they have the usual tremendously rich BOSE sound - which I first experienced in the Quiet Comfort on-ear headphones. So, after exhausting the web, I tried the control panel sound settings on my computer. I found that if you disable ALL of the INPUT sources the buzzing stops!!!! (Previously I had miisec my separate microphone input). So, if you've just bought or are think about buying these, don't let the 'buzzing' reviews put you off! I was initially skeptical buying these speakers given the mixed reviews, but the pros outweighed the cons, and I pulled the trigger. Bottom line: I am VERY glad. The sound is so rich. It fills the room and I can feel every note that is played. The emotion is brought out in the sound. Outstanding for those that listen to music on their computer while working. I think audiophiles (or people that think they are) love to put down Bose because of their commercial success. But if you can get past that, and just want a great speaker with rich and full sound at any volume level, you will be very happy with these.Customer Review: If like to hear your music, Bose is always best!

Bose doesn't make speakers for people who want to "feel their music thump". They actually include a disclaimer in the package. What they do is make speakers that produce a much larger sonic image than their small package implies. If you really like to hear your music, these speakers do a great job and don't occupy alot of desk space.
Of course, I don't game much anymore. I used to be a big gamer back in the Quake I days. I had an early 5.1 speaker system and it was great to feel grenades go off in the game. The speakers won't provide that experience. If you're a gamer, don't waste your money.
