Customer Review: I was hesitant at first....but "WOW!!"
Summary: 5 Stars

Having been someone that has been in the home theater business for at least 5 years..I know my speakers, I also know that when it comes to home theatre...there are far better speakers than BOSE....HOWEVER. I had bought a pair of the Bose Headsets a while back, and I was floored by the way they sounded. Being the music fanatic that I am. I have always had a passion for the quality of speakers that I choose when it comes to music. I needed a pair of new computer speakers. I was ready to upgrade. So I did my research as I do with everything else. I really like the Altec Lansing speakers that I owned when I had my dell, they lasted 10 years. Anyhow...I almost didn't purchase these...but I am so glad that I did. They sound AMAZING!!! especially with classical, New age, Jazz, Blues and world music~they rock for the price, and well worth it! Anyhow, their great little speakers for the money. You won't be disappointed. These are NOT my main speakers, they are used primarily for listening to music when I am at the computer.

Customer Review: Great for an office
Summary: 5 Stars

The Bose Companion 2 Series II sound great in my office and a co-worker's office. We don't crank them up very loud, even on weekends.

You don't want a subwoofer in an office (believe me, the guy in the next office had one for a while, it was a nightmare. I had to explain some things to him). There is more bass than you would expect in these and a nicely balanced sound.

With a cord with male 1/8 inch stereo plugs at each end, you can plug your ipod into these speakers (in the back) while they are still plugged into the computer. You can play your ipod and hear the Windows or OSX tune when you turn your computer on or off. Very cool feature.

The sound is directed to the person in front of the screen when these are on each side of the screen. Exactly what you want in office speakers. We are very, very happy with them. They are heavy enough to stay where you put them, they are not too big and they look decent.

Customer Review: Excellent shielded speakers
Summary: 5 Stars

The reason for the 5 star rating is that these are *shielded* speakers that sound excellent. I only wanted shielded speakers so that drastically limited the choices. Shielded speakers provide the comfort that being near electronics will not cause any issues such as a buzzing noise or distortion/discoloration on the screen of a laptop, mp3 player, portable dvd player, etc... These are powered speakers so they will need to be near an outlet. They come with a cable that plugs into the white/red jacks on the back of the right speaker and the other end will plug into an iPod or portable dvd player. They worked great with the older 7 inch portable dvd player I connected it to. I also tested connecting them to an iPod classic playing music from Frank Sinatra to Alice In Chains to see how well it would handle the extremes. It did very well. This is a great 2.0 set of speakers. I don't miss not having a subwoofer which I couldn't accommodate.

Customer Review: highly recommended
Summary: 5 Stars

i've been looking for a pair of good speakers to go off to college for awhile now. i heard these in a bestbuy display and was amazed by how much bass these little things put out. as other people said, it almost sounds as if theres a subwoofer packed inside these things. the combination of bass and treble is excellent.

as long as your computer has a decent sound card (both mine have nothing special and these still sound amazing) then you will be impressed. these definitely sound equal to or better than my $300 JVC system. and the bass on the bose speakers hits deeper than the 2 JVC subwoofers.

in my opinion these are well worth the $90 and i would even spend up to $150 on these. the sound quality is excellent and you will be impressed. and its great not having to worry about plugging in a sub woofer either! the only downside to these speakers is not having the on/off switch but i think i can manage without one.

Customer Review: nice speakers for the money
Summary: 5 Stars

I have been using the Bose Companion 2 Series II speaker system for about six months. I have attached them to my Imac and the sound was significantly improved. They were easy to install and use. Sound was crisp, sharp and full remembering that these are small speakers and not a $1000+ stereo system. I am somewhat eclectic in my choice of music. As I am writing this note, I am listening to E Powers Biggs playing Bach Four Great Toccatas & Fugues. The sound is good.I am sitting in somewhat of a sweet spot, directly in front of the computer and the speakers which have about 4 foot separation.I have used these with my ipod and the sound was also very good.

One of the earlier reviews stated there was no off-on switch. I believe there is one on the volume knob (right speaker)

If you want accessory speakers for a computer, TV or iPod these are great for the money and have been trouble free. I would recommend them.
