Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Bose Companion 2 Series II Multimedia Speaker SystemCustomer Review: Perfect for certain applications Summary: 5 Stars
I needed some speakers for my office and these were one of the very few designs that really fit with a contemporary modern office without looking like they were straight out of some sci fi movie. They're constructed solid, good quality, good sound.
Are they going to win out against my home system with a subwoofer or against a 1,000 RMS audiophile system with 32 speakers? No. Are there other 2.0 systems (2 speaker) systems out there that sound better? Probably but again some of those look like they're straight from the cockpit of some starship.
What these will do is give you good solid sound (and relatively good base) and fit into a contemporary office decor.
Don't get me wrong...for my Dell Alienware Aurora Desktop souped up $4k gaming beast, I need something racier than these speakers (something with exposed midranges and a 500watt amp running them complete with a 15" pile driver subwoofer).
For my run of the mill conservative office -- get these. You won't be disappointed.
Customer Review: Gamer Companion Summary: 5 Stars
I have two pairs of these speakers. One set hooked up to my PC and one set hooked up to my PS3 and Xbox 360. If you hate having to deal with a subwoofer or just dont want the kind of bass that makes the neighbors or parents mad, but you love deep bass, than these are your speakers.
From CS source to WoW to UT3 on the PC. Or Battlefield BC2 (war tapes) to COD Modern Warfare 2 to Need for Speed Shift on the Xbox 360. Or even Final Fantasy 13 to Motorstorm to KillZone 2 to Tekken 6 to God of War 3 on Playstation 3. These speakers do amazing things to these games and so many more. Nothing can describe how awesome these speakers are in war tapes sound mode on BC2.
The bass in these speakers are just right. From explosions, to gun shots even footsteps are well done. They dont overkill on the small stuff (foot steps), but are just right on the big stuff (explosions)! They perform just as well with music and blu ray movies. I watched 300 using these speakers, one word came to my mind- Amazing.
Perfect speakers at the right price... Subwoofer sound, without the sub!
Customer Review: Another five star review Summary: 5 Stars
I wound up buying these to replace some cheapo speakers I was loaned for a couple months and just couldn't handle any longer. I went and bought these and the Klipsch groove pm20's, which are pretty much the update to the promedia's and nearly a copy of these speakers. Same size drivers, same aux input feature, same size, but when compared side to side I much preferred the overall sound of these over the klipschs. These have a little less bass and I would prefer them not to have the TruSpace processing, but the realism and spaciousness of them is quite impressive. And some other negative reviews are kind of right on the sound lowering when the bass hits, but that's at volumes that you shouldn't be subjecting 2.5" drivers to in the first place. They have their limits, but don't mind riding just close to max volume and still sounding their best. Even the passive speaker weights a couple pounds and they don't mind taking some abuse. These are my first bose speakers and I'm pretty impressed with the overall build quality of them, especially the drivers inside. Definitely worth the money
Customer Review: Great Price & Great Speakers Summary: 5 Stars
I just purchased these speakers last week and I must say that I made a great purchase. I am a real tech type of person so I know what I buy before I actually purchase. I did my homework and found that for the price these speakers really are the best selection. I wanted to first purchase either the Logitech Z-2300 or the Klipsch 2.1 but found that they were just a little too much sound and a little out of my budget for the purpose, I mean if you primarily listen to music and videos from your computer and not your TV or surround system then get those ones. But if you're like me and you tell yourself "ehh I can't get badass quality from this standard output" then go with these speakers because they will make your computer seem as though it has a better sound card or something. These speakers really give the name Bose a real meaning cause when you are listening to music you stop and ask yourself, where is all that sound coming from? Some friends of mine the other day were looking around my computer system looking for the bass box and at that point i knew that i made a good purchase.
Customer Review: Elvis has never sounded better Summary: 5 Stars
I purchased a set of these for my 80 year old mother, along with an Elvis CD. These speakers are exceptional. Her PC is in her living room, a good sized 24 x 30 foot room. The speakers provide excellent sound throughout the room, they sound as good twenty feet away as they do sitting next to them. They will play loud enough to disturb conversation.
I chose the Bose Companion 2 speakers after spending some time shopping for some replacement speakers for myself. I currently have Altec Lansing 2.1 and 5.1 sets on my home PCs. I had made several visits to local retailers to sample computer speakers and was contemplating buying the Companion 3 Series II to replace the 5.1 set. Having listened to the Bose Companion 2 speakers for many hours now I must say they are good enough that I will not spend the additional $135 to get a Companion 3 set. I consider the Bose Companion 2 Series II speakers the best for the money on the market.
Elvis has never sounded better. And after thirty years mom is dancing in the kitchen again.
