I checked all the reviews, looked for something similar to what I had for 12 years and chose this one. It is the same quality as my older one, less noisy, lighter weight and does the job. The only drawback is the basket is smaller than my old one but that's probably good for me as will make me shred more often. The first shredder did not work. Thought we either had a problem with an electrical outlet or put the shredder on the basket incorrectly. Contacted Amazon Customer Service - they had a replacement shipped the next day. Works great! Like the small footprint. Impressed with how many quickly it chews up documents. We've burned through 2 shredders in the past two years, and we wanted one that would be able to handle multiple sheets and credit cards. I was skeptical that it could really shred cards, but sure enough it did! While this unit is MUCH quieter than our previous two shredders, this one still is a bit noisy but nothing that would annoy me. This is the perfect shredder for at home needs and had a lot to live up to after my original shredder of 10+ yrs gave up. I have not (and probably will not) shred credit cards on this machine. (Prefer to send them to work with my husband and let the industrial strength machine handle them) My stars rating the attributes say it all. I am happy with this paper shredder. I have had it for about a year in my den. As long as I do not overload with more than 6-7 sheets of paper the unit works fine. If i put more than the the unit struggles or does not cut properly. Seems to handle credit card plastic fine. If you shred a lot you may what something more robust, but this work fine for home office use.
