Customer Review: Damn good for the value..Worth it

Great buy. Grab it before its out of stock. I did couple of searches for a good Shreder and found that all of them with all shredding capabilities are almost for 50 bucks.
I found this and read all the reviews and got this product. Am using this since couple of months and found it great with No trouble at all.
Adavantages:
1] Shreds almost 8 to 10 pages simultaneously.
2] Also easily shreds unopened envelops which contains the dummy plastic credit cards.
3] Shreds CD/DVD into 4 to 6 pieces. One at a time.
4] Shreds Credit Cards. One at a time.
5] Shreds Stapled bunch of papers.
6] All this for a price 29.99 bucks is a WORTH.
Cons:
1] CD/DVD is cut into couple of pieces. So if its your personal CD/DVD you might need to shred the shreded peices too.
2] Same goes with important credit cards.
3] But no worries its just an extra additional one time effort. Grab it :).
Overall its awesome and I found no real cons. in it. Its a shredder with all features at a price of only paper shredder from many other brands. So, close your eyes and grab it.

This is a great little shredder for LIGHT use. If you are with the CIA and want to shred thousands of documents an hour, then this is not for you. But if all you need is to shred a few pieces of paper at a time, then this is a great value.
It also shreds CD's and credit cards without any problem. It says 8-sheet paper capacity, but like all shredders, it works best if you don't operate at it's maximum limits. I usually don't put more than 5-6 sheets at a time. Although generally I only shred a couple of pages of documents at a time, I have used it to shred large amounts of tax and financial records without problems. Take breaks in the shredding to give the motor a little time to cool and it won't seize up. Oil it occasionally; no special oil required. Plain old veggie cooking oil on a sheet of paper works fine.
My favorite thing is that while it is small, the standard grocery store plastic bag fits perfectly in the basket. So it's easy to empty when it fills up. Just lift out the full bag and put in a new one.
All in all, a great shredder for light duty use.

I'm very happy with this inexpensive but well-made shredder. I chose a strip-cut shredder to shred phone books, junk mail, and magazines for starting fires in my fireplace. It's faster than I expected. It can shred groups of phone book pages as quickly as I can tear them out. I used it heavily over the winter to shred the equivalent of about a 2-foot-high stack of paper. It's still running perfectly. The motor has thermal protection: if it overheats, it stops running until it cools down. Being run continuously, it can fill its basket twice before overheating and stopping.
I have a few minor criticisms: It often doesn't fully eject the paper, so you have to pull the last strips out by hand before emptying the basket. There's a single sensor in the middle of the slot, so when shredding narrow items, sometimes it stops and you have to press the manual run button. It would be nicer if the basket were clear so you could see how full it is. The slot is only 8.75 inches wide, so some larger mailings have to be folded to be shred. I wish it were just an inch wider.

I had purchased this for our home / personal use. I had read the reviews on the overall quality of the product. I still purchased the item knowing that prolonged use of the shredder for a long time can shut down. I do have a lot of shredding to do - about 8 years worth of mine & about 10 years for my husband. Then I have my parent's to work on as well.
The basket is small for all the shredding that needs to be done and has to be emptied quite frequently which is a pain in the ass when you have a lot to do. What I have personally done is once I have scanned in the paperwork into the computer, I have a separate small waste basket for which papers needs to be shredded, and only shred for about 20 min. a day. It's a pain in the butt, but it works in preventing the overheating of the product.
The Shredder does not cross shred, which could be a bummer, but does the CD's well & Insurance cards.
I would recommend this to anyone for personal use. If you are a small business, then No I would invest in a larger one.

I bought this shredder to shred a couple grocery bagsful of records. I've never owned a shredder before, so it took a little practice to figure out the limits of this little machine. I jammed it a couple times in the beginning and ended up having to pick the jammed pieces out of the blades with a pair of long tweezers, but once I figured out that it would only do 4-5 pages at a time and that feeding crumpled or wrinkled pieces risked a jam unless fed separately and carefully, I breezed along without any problems. I heeded others comments about not using it for too long at a time and never had any problems with overheating. The receptacle is not large, about the size of a small bathroom wastebasket, but I see this as a plus. It's extremely easy to lift off the shredder and decant the shreds into a larger bag or place the shredder over a bigger container. The small size makes storage much easier when not in use. A fine shredder for everyday household use.
