Customer Review: Excellent Little Shredder

After our Royal shredder just died one day without warning, we were looking for an inexpensive replacement and found this model. It sells for less than half of most other models and we have found it to shred just as effectively as the larger, more expensive shredders. The catch is that the opening on this shredder is half the normal width (half the width of a standard piece of paper). This means that you have to fold papers in half length-wise before inserting them into the shredder. Also, it can only handle one sheet at a time so this is definitely a light-duty shredder for occasional home use only. However, if you are willing to accept those two limitations, then you are getting a great little shredder that shreds paper as well as the larger models, that takes up very little room and can sit on a desktop, and that costs only $30. Taking all of this into account, we find this to be q perfect little shredder for our needs.Customer Review: Awsome tiny shredder

I bought this shredder (don't laugh!) as a Bday present. My husband is a very practical person and he hates presents (calls it "waste of money"). I knew he wanted a shredder for occasional use and I bought him one for the upcoming Bday. I've never seen him this happy with a present!
The shredder it small, but that's a good thing. It doesn't take much space and looks cute. Some people complain about the size of the slot, but for us it's not a problem - just fold the paper. It can shred up to 4 peices of paper folded in two at a time.
When we got the shredder, of course the first thing we did we tested it. It says "shreds credit cards". The one we put in got stuck. Then we read the instructions - "Put credit cards in VERTICALLY" - Duh!!! We should have read the instructions!
Overall I'm very happy with the purchase. A very good investment of [...] bucks!

This shredder is perfect for light use at home.
It completely suited my requirements:
1. Light Use: I just have to shred a few documents in a week at home,
2. Reasonable cost: I didn't want to buy something that was expensive, and this is great for its price.
You have to fold paper to put it in the shredder's "opening", but this is a "task" that I wouldn't have normally noticed, hadn't I read the earlier reviews. In short, it's not at all inconvenient, and takes no time at all. Also, it's super easy to use.
So far, I'm completely satisfied with the purchase.
Update - May 2010: I have been using this product for more than a year now, and my experience has continued to be great. Also, I've also shredded a couple of credit-cards without any issues. Only, I shredded them one at a time just to be cautious.

This shredder is fantastic for my needs. I was looking for something compact and efficient, just for minimal use. After doing some research I stumbled upon this product. And so glad I did! It suits my needs to a T. It takes up very little space. Works like a charm for what it is intented-doing small jobs. Not once have I had to unclog it. Although they do include a tool for this particular job, should you need it. I shredded a credit card (yeah!) and although the machine completed the job, had trouble with it. Kinda like the little engine that could.... I have a multi cat household, and this has no exposed teeth or anything sharp where their curiousity would get them hurt. Plus, the machine is of a substantial weight and made well, so I confident it is not going to tip over and break. I'm not going to lie: I bought this shredder predominately for it's appearance, without realizing that the opening was for standard letter sized mail. That said, I am not disappointed. It has served me well, shredding a ton of my backed up confidential mail, paperwork and credit cards, without overheating. I is strong enough to handle a few pages, so if I have full sheet paperwork to be shredded, I just fold it in half. I like that it is attractive enough I can leave it out for easy access as the mail, etc. comes in without detracting from the visual ascetics of the room. I love how small it is. You should be aware that even though there is a handle on the top, the shredder doesn't attach to the container, so you can't carry it that way, just open it to empty everything.
