Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Archos 605 Wi-Fi Portable Media Player (30 GB)Customer Review: This thing rocks!! Summary: 4 Stars
Got the Archos 605 30GB a week ago.
-I'm amazed by the video quality. So far, it played all the AVI files in my collection(Anime, TV shows...etc).
-Uploaded my photo albums and it's a great way to show them to friends and relatives.
-MP3 music quality is comparable to my IPOD mini.
-Have not used the internet feature. Properly not going to since i'm online at home and work. Mostly because it cost $30 to unlock the software.
Would have given it a 5 star had it not for the amount of time(overnight oonnection using USB to a CPU) needed to charge. Can't believe an AC adaptor was not included. Ordered the travel mini charger and awaiting it's arrival. Base on reviews, the travel adaptor should cut charging time considerably. Battery life is not as advertised, but i'm statisfied. Video is about 3 hours and MP3 proberly longer, have not tested that. I mainly use it to watch shows on my daily commute. So far, pretty statisfied.
Customer Review: archos 605 wifi Summary: 4 Stars
Not bad for the price I paid for it nice features holds a lot of music files still trying and having some trouble down recording movies was only able to successfully record one movie you,ll need the dvr dock that. And that was from a vcr movie qaulity came out great but one down fall is it only recorded in mono for some reason I dont know if it was because of the way I it connected to the vcr or what. After recording the movie I tried to record another one had sound and but no picture same thing when trying to record from a dvd player.
But other than that I like it for my music collection that I have the speakers are not that great but when using earbuds they sound great I use a aux speaker with mine when I dont use the earbuds which works fine it depends on what you are lookng for but it suits my needs. One more thing shipping came very fast I had gotting both items within a fews days after I ordered them.
Customer Review: Great hardware at a great price Summary: 4 Stars
I owned a 604 for a couple years. It crapped out once and I had a horrible experience with customer where I RMAd my system and they sent it back to me without fixing it. Eventually it got sorted out though.
I went back to Archos when my system died for the second time. The 604 was discontinued so I bought a 605. I love it.
The thing is there isn't anything in these reviews I don't agree with - both the positive and negative reviews. It's pretty crappy that they charge for the plug ins. And sometimes, they break and customer service is terrible.
But for the price, esp today (the 30GB is a STEAL at it's current price...I am considering picking another one up just 'cause).
All said, if you like to watch movies and want to be able to check the internet (it's not really designed for that so the ability is just bonus) then this is a great device.
Customer Review: Archos 605 wifi works great Summary: 4 Stars
I received the unit from the refurbished section. It works great right out of the box. I sold off my 30gb i**d in favor of this. The screen is crystal clear and the resolution is outstanding. No dead pixels. Drag and drop beats the alternative. Settings need changed to drag and drop or syncing with WMP11. I have never played with a Touch but so far this is more than adequate. Not gym friendly, too big and heavy to take on runs or lift weights with. Great traveling companion for long trips and airport layovers. Battery life is about average for media players.
Pro's-
Crystal clear screen
Drag and drop capability or usb drive with mini dock station.
Easy to navigate
Cons-
Too big and heavy for gym use
None other I can think of.
Customer Review: Great product, so far so good Summary: 4 Stars
Had the unit for a little over a month and no real problems except for
crashing once in a while while connected to wi-fi. Battery takes very long to charge initially (even with the dvr unit) so be patient
Awesome video quality and touch screen works well. Very easy to use and set-up was pretty simple. Could use a slot for the stylus in the future.
Get the DVR as well and you will be able to record directly from cable/etc.
Dragging and dropping files is also a breeeze. No real issues except for the occasional crash/freeze with wi-fi
