I got a 30gb iPod about 23 months ago in trade for some work I did for an acquaintance. At the time I didn't even know about the protection plan. It wasn't until I realized how much I loved this little electronic wonder that I started to worry about how I would ever replace it if it stopped working.
About 11 months after I received the iPod I purchased the protection plan from Apple. The sales rep I spoke with was well informed and very helpful. I had actually purchased the plan 11 months and 30 days after my initial iPod purchase date. I was assured that as long as I bought the plan before the original warranty expired that I could register it to my iPod at any time. She was right.
When my iPod started losing charge and shutting down intermittently about a month ago I was worried but then I remembered the protection plan. I called them up and they had the shipping materials at my door the next day. I sent the iPod out the day after and after 1 day of transit, 1 day of troubleshooting, and 1 day of return shipping I have a newly refurbished iPod back in my hands. No questions, no runaround, no hassle.
I would recommend this product to ANYONE with an iPod. These things are just too damn cool to risk losing.

You MUST buy Apple Care if you get any apple product. It fully covers your iPod if anything happens in two years... and it really works. Also, it gives you as much tech help as you need during that two-year period... this is a no-brainer. I's so worth the small investment up-front to have help at any apple store to fix it or explain anything. Or you can call apple anytime for assistance. I had to replace two ipods because they died for no apparent reason (I think they were exposed to magnets) and Apple replaced them under Apple Care with no questions asked.Customer Review: APPLE Customer Service is the Platinum Standard

At first I was reluctant to purchase an extended warranty/product support product. I took a chance and will never regret it. APPLE's customer support is First Class. It's better than the "Gold Standard". It's The Platinum Standard for customer support. Every Company should be as good.....their customer support people are knowledgeable and friendly. No long waits on hold; no trying to navigate a phone cue to get to the correct department/person.
I was so impressed with APPLE that I bought two 16gb Nano's and upgraded my phone to an iPhone.

This a great warranty. But in this case, Apple shortened the warranty by 3 months because, according to Apple, Amazon purchased the computer from Apple in May and the warranty started when Amazon bought the computer to resell instead of when I bought the computer from Amazon.
Is this crazy or what? I bought the computer brand new from Amazon. The warranty should have started on the day on which I purchased it!
In reality I should have given it only 2 stars.

Apple Customer service is invaluable when needed even for simple or "stupid" questions. Techs are readily available, friendly, patient, knowing, and thorough. They seem to really want to help. As good as
mac's are, quirks and glitches and problems do arise. Reasonable price. Very nice to have the ongoing access for tech support available until the next generation comes out. Go for it!
