Customer Review: Beyond All Expectations!
Summary: 5 Stars

First off, I ordered this on a Monday and it came on Wednesday....using free shipping. Wow! Thanks amazon.

Now onto the product....simple, sleek, amazing. Set up out of the box could not have been easier. Make sure you have the most updated version of itunes onyour computer, plug in the USB cord and you're up and running. Give it a full 3-4 hour charge first time through. Load up your music, pictures, videos. The software is simplicty defined. If you can use a toaster over, you can use this device. The wi-fi immediatley found my home network (and my neighbor's). Setting up email: simple. Surfing the web: simple. And, oh yeah, using it to listen to music (ostensibly what it is for): a lifting and beautiful experience.

Might as well buy this newer version with the new software loaded. With amazon's discount, it only a few dollars more than the old version without the upgrade after you pay for it and upload it youself. Save yourself the hassle and get the new version.

So you know, this thing will get fingerprinted fast. I got a Griffin leather hard shell case with a protective screen cover for about $20.00. A bit pricey but worth it to protect your investment.

I went with the 8 gig verion for a few reasons and it's more than enough space. I am a music nut...I loaded it with more music that I can digest in two weeks and there's still 3 gigs free. Sure I'll eventually fill it (I guess...) but I really don't mind swapping music out for fresh music thereby making my ipod new and fresh again. I also thought if I somehow lose the thing, I'd be out a lot more money with the 16 or 32 gig version. But honestly, it's more than enough space for me.

The one caveat I discovered the hard way: shut off the wi-fi connection when you're not using it. I charged it up, thought I turned it off, and then went to bed. In the morning, the battery was fully drained. Instead of turning off, I only put the unit to sleep. (To turn off, you need to press and hold the sleep button until the power off slider comes on-screen and you turn it off fully.) And while it was in sleep mode with the wi-fi still on, it kept checking my email, etc, thus draining the battery. Just turn off wi-fi when you're not using it and you're battery will keep running.

Concluding, I love this thing, and don't know how I got by without it.

Customer Review: An absolute gem!
Summary: 5 Stars

I was so intrigued by the Itouch that I was one of the first ones to run out and get one. At the time the 8 GB was the largest they had but since then they have released a 32 GB one. I should have been patient and waited but even with 8 GB I still haven't even filled it up halfway. Of course I don't have any movies or such on it which I hear takes up a great deal of space. But I do have tons of CDs and pictures..This is the most innovative product I have seen in a long time and what is so cool is being able to watch You Tube videos anywhere there is a Wi Fi connection. I think the videos actually look better on the Itouch vs a PC. I have since upgraded the software and love all the additional features! About the only complaint I would have is that I wish the battery life would last longer and that when it comes time to replace the battery that you wouldn't have to send it in to have it done.

The integration with Itunes is seamless and I have become somewhat of an addict downloading all my favorite classic rock so I could have it readily available to play in my car. That's the beauty of having this gem..being able to hook it into the auxiliary jack of your car stereo and listening to your whole music collection. Also being able to set up an "On the Go" play list of your favorite tunes from your whole database of music is a plus! Loading all your precious digital photos on it is also a great plus! You can practically share your whole photo album with friends and family! The earphones that come with it give a great sound and I've picked up some portable speakers to hook up to it work great when you want to share with friends etc.

The look of it is sheer beauty and the touch sensitivity is absolutely amazing! Surfing the web is probably not the best thing to do with a device like this but you do have that option which makes it rather pleasant. My favorite things to use it for are listening to music in my car. And watching You Tube Videos! The ability to bookmark all your favorite videos is a feature I like and the album cover art that accompanies your CD uploads and downloads from Itunes is such a cool feature!

All in all a great package and worth every penny! Apple did good!

Customer Review: Most incredible device this 43 year old will probably ever own!
Summary: 5 Stars

My title says it all, however, if I get a newer generation I will rate that as the best. Now mind you, I am writing this review on September 23, 2010. I've had my 1st gen iTouch since it came out. Came with the back-to-school sale. Got it for free w/my student/faculty purchase of an iMac several years ago. I've been using my iTouch for years. Still on the original battery! I've kept the original sticker on the screen, which is the best screen protector out there! Apple started printing pictures of Apps on subsequent stickers. However, the sticker on my "John Lennon boxed version" is clear, so I thought, hey, just use that as a screen protector. It hasn't come off yet. Amazing! I am totally hooked on this thing. (To think I almost sold it when I received it, thinking that I wouldn't need it and I could sell it to offset some of the price of the iMac.) You can read all the reviews out there. I really don't have anything to add on the technicalities and specs. I just want to go on record as an adult who highly values this product. I don't have an iPhone, and will likely never own one. I hate phones. I'm on one all day at work. Thus, for me the iTouch is the perfect device. I sometimes wonder how they got all that technology in that little thin device. I love using it for the Internet. I especially love the built-in mail app. In fact, I prefer that interface to any other interface since it loads so quickly and displays just the necessary information, and makes deleting a snap. For the first year or two I didn't set up WiFi at home, so I used the local public library and other hot spots for the internet. But once I set up WiFi at home, I fell in love with it all over again. There is not one thing I would change (except the lack of an external speaker, which changed on the 2nd generation, and a larger capacity as I've maxed out on Apps, songs, videos, etc.) I truly believe everyone should have an iTouch. I am still amazed at this thing. It truly is a beautiful product. Well designed. Reflects the quality of a crafstman. PS - do yourself a favor and upgrate to decent headphones. I for one am satisfied with my Seinheisers.

Customer Review: AS ALWAYS , APPLE NUMBER ONE but, plase breake jail
Summary: 5 Stars

HI there, i got ipod touch 8 gb and have been trying it for 2 weeks already, WOW this is fantastic, if you are planning to buy one of this babies, go for, and the first thing you want to do is brake the jail, then you will see the real thing, hundreds of features video games like mario, super mario 1 2 3, etc etc,, the youtube feature is amazing actully if you brake the jail there is an aplication called mxtube that downsload the videos directly from youtube and it's preatty fast by the way, it download a 25 mb video in about 2 min, i have comcast internet 6.0 and my router is not really good, so you will enjoy tons of videos for free, also, maps, weather and email are one of the good things when breaking the jail without having to buy that pack from aple for 20 bucks, brakingjail takes less than one minute to complete. Zafari works pratty good and you can get signal for free every where. this thing is a preatty good organizer, better than a regular previous ipod and the 3.5 inches screen is amazing, do not set this one every where couse back will begin to scratch

Bad things,,, istallation was a real pain and took me about 4 hous to make it work with windows xp, my pc did not recognize it and had to reistall tunes 5 times,

Battery is not as good as they promissed, surfing online drains battery in less than 3 hours, watching videos and listening music takes less than 4 hours for battery to die, i dont know why they said it lasts 22 hours, or may be mine is no good

The feature that locks itoch every certain time is no good to me, couse every minute you have to be sliding your finger on screen to unlock it if you want to change song or video, if you set it to lock itself every 5 minutes it will drain battery faster since it has to be with light on for 5 min.

Screen is a mess after the first 2 min of use
Back scratches very easy

Some times it freezes up just like a regular computer and you have to restart it.

I hope this was usefull, if you have any question email me to pepelily@hotmail.com i cant continue this review couse my english still sucks.

Customer Review: The best MP3 player I've ever owned!
Summary: 5 Stars

I have owned a few MP3 players. The first one was a Toshiba one with 512 MB. I owned that one for about three years, though I had to remove CDs in favor of newer ones because it ran out of space. I finally decided to upgrade last year and bought a third generation iPod nano. Then I switched to the Classic. They were all good, but I craved an iPod Touch because of all the cool features. I do not regret making the switch. The iPod Touch is beautiful and a multi-media wonder. The music sounds great, the video image is second to none and I love how well it takes the wireless connection in my neighborhood. (Lucky for me, there is a great wireless connection from a nearby office with flawless reception. Haven't had to pay for Internet service since I moved here.) The wi-fi is great for viewing YouTube, surfing the web, checking e-mail, buying music and many more things you can do straight from your iPod. You can also write notes with the virtual keyboard and create a contact list. It's like the iPhone, minus the phone.

I bought the 8 GB because the others are a little too steep for me. In fact, price is one of the few unattractive things about this device. Also, you cannot purchase videos on iTunes with this either, which kind of sucks. I recommend that you turn off wi-fi when you're not using it because it'll eat up your battery. A great thing about this thing is that you can download cute and useful little apps from iTunes, just like with the iPhone. Most of the apps are free, but you have to pay $10 for the software upgrade.

But those are the only few things I find wrong with this iPod. Apple has once again shown the quality of their products. I own two Macs, and this is the perfect complement for my computers. Now if only I owned the iPhone, but I'd have to switch cell phone carriers in order to own one, and that I am not willing to do. In the meantime, I highly recommend this wonderful and useful device. By far, the best MP3 player I have owned so far.

*I will update this review as I continue to use the iPod and if there are any changes to its functionality*
