I will admit that I had purposefully stayed away from Apple products for many years. I have always felt they were over-priced and did not provide enough value. However, this viewpoint changed when a friend of mine let me play around on his iPod touch. In the past I have owned several Creative Zen MP3 players, and felt they were quality products. Before the release of the iPod touch, I felt that the Creative players easily provided more value than the original iPods. However, the internet capabilities of the iPod touch have moved the iPod into another realm. Calling the iPod touch an MP3 is quite unfair as the music capability of this iPod is just the beginning. Having full internet access (providing you're within a WIFI zone) transforms this MP3 player into a small laptop. It really handles everything, from checking email to finding nearby gas stations. The app store is far superior to any other competitor on the market as the Apple phrase "there's an app for that" really does apply in almost every situation. Coming from someone who has been strongly against Apple in the past, I can assure you that you will not be disappointed with the vast capabilities of the iPod touch.

Have been using this iPod Touch for several months now and am still amazed. It is truly incredible how much one small device can do.

I've had this for three months now. I simply can't put it down.
I'm actually a big Apple hater. I'm proud that my last Apple product that I personally owned was an Apple II plus. Thats right. I skipped over 28 years of Apple products.
Why I love the Ipod Touch 2G:
1. Quite simply the wifi is near perfect. It seamlessly connects to my work, home, second work location, brother's house, mom's house. Unbelieveable.
2. The touch screen is frankly near perfect. By far the best touch screen EVER made. And I've tried a bunch from Nokia etc.
3. Web browsing is actually usable.
4. App store is groundbreaking.
5. Itunes is still the best, but needs real competition to push it further.
6. Battery life is very impressive for such a small device.
Cons:
1. No FLAC support.
2. Shinny. Seriously Apple.
3. Immediatly required a decent case and screen protector.
4. Changed charging spec. This is the bane of my existence.
The cons in no way outweigh the pros. It is a near perfect device.
Other thoughts:
You really don't need this large 32GB version if you don't have a large music library. The apps are so small that the 8GB one should suffice. I have about 144 apps on it and they only take up half a GB.

The product itself is wonderful and have no complaints about the Ipod.
What we do find rather disturbing was the fact that we thought we were purchasing an IPHONE and not an IPOD. When going onto your web site my husband called up IPHONE (unlocked) and the IPOD comes up in its place. He genuinely though he was purchasing an IPHONE as a Christmas gift for me - when it arrived we were shocked to find it was an IPOD. We then went back to your web site and called up IPHONE and once again it takes you to the IPOD. This is rather devious marketing to say the least and we are very disappointed, firstly at our own stupidity, but mostly at the devious marketing ploy. As we live overseas and were just visiting the States for Christmas, and as the IPOD is really a good product we decided to keep the IPOD - however, would think twice about using your web site for further purchase.
The product did not arrive on the arranged delivery date and we had to follow up on the product via phone, but it did eventually arrive.
Very disappointed with our very first internet purchase and will never be taken again.

I recently bought the new ipod touch, 32 GB, 2nd Generation, and it is my first Ipod and I am completely satisfied, I was afraid after the negative reviews, and for me It was the best decision to go for this ipod. I am still learning how to use the features, like uploading videos, pictures, building the playing lists, and the games, it is great to have this kind of games, free or very cheap prices. I am using the wireless connection a lot, and my mail is on my hands, the contacts area is great, and good for work, because that was one of my weakness, now I have all the bunch of business cards data, right on my ipod. Every day I have learning about new ipod touch applications available in the market. It is going to be a great working tool for me.
About the shopping experience, I bought it from Guatemala, before visiting my cousins in San Francisco, the first delivery date was very bad, because I was going to receive it after my vacation end, but it arrived more than two weeks in advance, and it was waiting for me, and I could bring it with me back to Guatemala, thanks to the fast shipping response from Amazon. (and paying for the regular shipping, not the 1 or 2 days).

I had borrowed a first generation version of the iPod from work. I found that it provided whole spectrum of value in addition to listening to music. I have access to email, calendars, contacts, facebook, games, entertainment guides, family photos, videos... the list is seemingly endless - the right size package and intuitive interface. I purchased the Sony Dreammachine clock radio with ipod interface, which I do not use so much... I also purchased an Pioneer car radio with ipod interface, which I do use a lot... I find I carry it with me far more than the 1G ipod I had. So when the company took back the iPod Touch, I found myself missing it - so I purchased a 2G version for myself...
On the lacking side - I wish it had bluetooth and GPS - not a deal killer, but clearly more things you would be able to do with it. Camera/video would be nice to have... but overall, none of these cause me to think of the product as incomplete.
I did not get an iPhone because I do not wish to be tied to a carrier - I rather pay the premium for independence....
Now if I could only get everyone to open up their Wifi access points to my ipod life would be perfect :)
