Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Apple iPod touch 32 GB (1st Generation) OLD MODEL

Customer Review: the beauty and the beast
Summary: 5 Stars

Great unit for older eyes and less nimble fingers...more user friendly.
I've owned the smaller nanos, and at 66 years young, found it a bit tedious.
Great games to download at a very reasonable price..easy to see on the bigger screen than nano, or classic. In color also.
Nice for showing off the family photos, as one can actually see this larger screen with ease.

However, get the 2nd generation itouch if you use a phone line modem.
It's virtually impossible to download the upgrade of software on a phone line.( a $10 charge, by the way )
What upgrade you ask? Well...there is an 'app store' icon that is already on the 2nd generation (and on iphone), but lacking on the first generation itouch. One needs the 'app. store' software to download any games or desired other applications.
I tried for 4 days to download this upgrade via modem, on two different computers, and two different phone lines. It always times out, and must be re-started from the beginning! (no 'resume download' here)
I finally went to the Apple store, and used their Wi-Fi to get it loaded.
Now I love my itouch!
So, for an extra $20, get the 2nd generation...you'll spend $10 just for the download, and at least $10 in sweat and angst. ;)

Customer Review: SIMPLY FANTASTIC !!!!!!!
Summary: 5 Stars

The APPLE IPOD TOUCH 32GB is simply FANTASTIC ! It is so simple to use and has plenty of storage space for anything I might want to add. The music application is wonderful and with a simple accesory, I use it to play on my car stereo system, which make my kids happy because I am able to store all of their favorite music on it, as well as my own.
For movies, this iPod is incredible. The LCD screen is clear and crisp enough for anything I wish to watch. (Which is nice for those times spent in the car on a long trip.) I've stored some of my classic movies on it and it hardly took up any room at all ! And if I choose to, the composite accessory cables make it possible to transfer my movies to a TV. (I plan on using those for on vacation this summer at the condo.) It's nice to not have to drag around those extra DVD cases and player.
It's also nice to store a BUNCH of pictures on it. I always have a lot of family photos and memories ready at the click of a button or tap on the screen.
Originally, I had chosen the 16 GB version, but, for the extra little bit of money, the extra storage space is so worth it.
This is one purchase I haven't regretted even for a moment.....

Customer Review: The best handheld device in the world.
Summary: 5 Stars

I've already written a thorough review for the 16GB iPod touch at Apple iPod touch 16 GB without Software Updates. I got the January Software Update, so the only difference between my iPod and this one is the memory capacity. In fact, I've only got about 1/3 gigabyte left on my iPod touch 16GB, so I'm thinking about selling it for $300 and buying this iPod.

I think that most people don't need to pay extra to have this much storage. With only 16GB, I've got more than 1,000 photos, about 250 songs, six audiobooks, two movies, a short film, the latter two seasons of "Avatar: The Last Airbender," the free TV episode that comes with the iPod touch, "How I Met Your Mother," 21 music videos, and like a hundred emails.

Since I just got my very first Visa card, I've enjoyed downloading lots of stuff from iTunes. The 16GB iPod touch is just enough to hold my entire collection minus a chick flick my Mom downloaded.

Bottom line: Only buy this iPod if you've got lots of video and/or a massive music collection. If you do, it's worth the $500.

Customer Review: Very Happy
Summary: 5 Stars

I received/bought a 32gb touch for my birthday last month (parents payed $300, I put in $200) and am extremely happy with it.

It's my first ipod and I've found it very easy to use. The large screen is great for watching movies or youtube videos, and the built in youtube application makes it easy to browse videos. Though be warned that using wi-fi, watching videos, and playing games can use up the battery really fast.

With the new 2.0 upgrade (which costs $10) you can add applications from the appstore (most of them cost money), which opens up hundreds of possibilities for more things you can do with your ipod touch. The only problem I've come across has been while playing certain games from the appstore the ipod freezes, but that's more the game developer's fault than Apple's.

Had I been paying the full price by myself I probably would have gone with the 16gb to save money. Previously when looking into mp3 players I was considering an 8gb nano, but after looking at my sisters' new ipod touches I knew that I had to have one. The wi-fi was really what sold it for me, and now the ability to add applications are a great bonus.

Customer Review: Couldn't be happier!
Summary: 5 Stars

So I coughed up the money and pulled the trigger on this beautiful piece of hardware. Amazon even threw in a free shuffle! The itouch works as advertised. Photos look great, and the music sounds fantastic through headphones or my car stereo. I can't get enough of flipping through my collection with cover flow with my finger! (For best sound quality, I configured my rips to be 320 kbps MP3s. I mean, you do have the space with the 32 gig model.)

I was a little wary of the web browser. I mean, how fast could it be, right? But once it has picked up a signal it's just about as fast as my DSL connection on my PC! That is the trick, though, picking up a signal. It piggy-backs off whatever signal happens to be around. It can be hit or miss.

The itouch interacts just fine with my PC. I got used to itunes pretty fast. Apple makes everything very intuitive and easy to use.

In short, this is one of the coolest things I have ever owned. Worth every penny!
