Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Apple iPod touch 16 GB (2nd Generation) [Previous Model]Customer Review: Fun for everyone! Summary: 5 Stars
My 14YO received this as a gift and he has hardly put it down since. For the most part, he uses this more often than his laptop. He has games, access to the internet, videos, applications, information, emails-- including his 'top secret' yahoo and google email accounts... It has everything a 14 YO could ever want or need.
One thing that concerned me, before we even selected this one, was the reports of problems people had with their ipods getting water damage from humid environments or from sweating while working out. It seems ridiculous that Apple has not addressed this problem and seems content to let the problem be the responsibility of an unsuspecting public. But that was also the way they dealt with our irreplaceable batteries on the first generation ipods. It wasn't until enough pressure was put on Apple that the batteries became available and could be replaced instead of replacing the ipod. I have not heard a word about Apple addressing this problem.
To protect us from this problem, my 14YO uses other devices when he is out running or for carrying around to school or sailing. That has worked out for a variety of reasons, including his amazing and incredible ability to set things down and walk away from them.
Customer Review: Unbiased iPod Touch Review From Someone Who's Owned One For 6+ Months Summary: 5 Stars
A few years ago I bought my first iPod Photo, and recently it just died so I went out and bought and iPod Touch. Now at first I wasn't sure about getting a Touch because of all the other touch screen MP3 players like the Archos, or the V-Touch, but after researching all of them the iPod Touch comes out on top for the following reasons:
1. Much better customer support
2. Many more games
3. Touch screen responds better
4. A lot thinner
5. Syncs to your computer easier
6. Battery lasts forever!
Now besides these main reasons, there are other, smaller reasons like there is a mail application on the iPod and the other two don't have that feature. You have much more customizable options for the menu and controls. You can even play games online, even without WiFi!
Now be warned, the iPod back scratches VERY easily! I recommend getting ZAGG's invisibleSHIELD for protecting the back, and front from getting scratched. That is the only con that this generation Touch has, that I can find after owning one for over six months. I can hardly wait to see what they are coming out with next! If you want my opinion on that one, check back with me because I'm definitely going to get one!
Customer Review: Very Good, I don't know why some are disappointed... Summary: 5 Stars
The Apple iPod Touch is good. That's all I can say. All the features apple.com and amazon say it has, it has. There's no other mp3 player out there like this one.
One thing people complain about is the difficulty using iTunes and that some accessories aren't compatible yet with this second generation.
Well... Blame iTunes and those accessories, not the iPod.
True, iTunes may be difficult to use and at some times restrictive, but hey! You have to admit that it IS the best thing out there compared to windows media player, rhapsody, etc. And hello! You can just convert the songs and videos you get from other places like Limewire to put on the iPod.
Another thing: Some people just don't like touching the screen. Hello! Technology is moving! Pretty soon I bet MANY appliances, gadgets, computers, etc. will be in some way touch screen. (Maybe these people don't wash their hands that's why, LOL)
Point being, iPod Touch:
Appreciate it and use it or get mad about very insignificant problems and get stressed out.
In my case, I really like it. Maybe, you will too.
(BTW, this iPod Touch 2nd gen is my first iPod touch, but my fourth iPod)
Customer Review: My upgrade from a 1gb Nano... Summary: 5 Stars
This toy is so cool... I have a 1g Nano which I loved and was so easy to use however quickly ran out of space for songs.. I almost bought a new nano but decided to try this and am so glad I did.. This apple product is still so easy to use, anywhere there is a wi-fi connection I can look online and check my e-mail right out of the box without installing any program or any hassle or fee.. It has its own short cut to Youtube and the quality of the picture is amazing its so clear. I loaded every Cd I have on this and still have some space left.. I think if your into top notch gadgets you can't beat this. Games, calculator, apps, stock mkt info, weather, on and on.. Oh yeah and don't forget the music the whole reason I bought it for.. It feels like a mini laptop and I found it easy to type with the on screen keyboard. I am glad I have my other Nano in case I am worried about this one getting damaged or lost, thats the only drawback I can see is that its so special that I baby it a bit where with my nano It was what it was a music player and It banged around with me working out or in the car, in the bottom of my bag... For now this one gets the special treatment but its worth it.
Customer Review: Totally Addicting! Summary: 5 Stars
This is just a wonderful addition the ipod. I use more like a computer than an MP3 player. I can do my email on it and search the web. That is a great advantage when I have access to WiFi. The MP3 capacity is great too. I can store music and videos on it with no trouble and add applications to the touch easily. I am older so usually I'm not storing my Hip Hop records but love to listen to podcasts that are available on itunes. The touch gets easier every time I use it and I am not having to resort to a guide every time I have a little trouble learning something new. With just fiddling around with it, I found how to enlarge the print, zoom in on webpages and emails or zoom out. I am beginning to be able to text like a kid with writing emails on it. It seems difficult at first then suddenly you're on your way. I can't recommend the ipod touch any more than I do now. It's great and I love the little speaker. I just wish it was a bit louder. My biggest complaint is not being able to get Flash player. That interferes with receiving ecards, some videos etc. There is supposed to be a new version out for ipod and iphone soon. Let's hope.
