Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Apple iPod touch 16 GB (2nd Generation) [Previous Model]Customer Review: I'm a Little Touchy On This Subject... Summary: 5 Stars
I bought myself a 16 GB iPod Touch a couple months ago, and I gotta say I couldn't be happier.
Among the numerous pluses for this beautiful product are:
-The sleek design, which despite what it may seem, makes it extremely portable and slips right into your pocket.
-The extremely responsive touch screen. Great technology with this. Its great fun just scrolling through your songs because of the excellently natural feel of this feature.
-The beautiful full color display makes photos and movies nice to look at.
-The layout is excellent. Everything you need is right at your fingertips when you need it. Very easy to use.
-Some really great apps. There are hours to be spent fooling around with some really fun applications, many of which are free.
-The capacity is more then enough for me. I dumped over a thousand songs on, which is all my music, a couple movies, and several apps and I still have 4 GBs of space left.
-There are several very helpful features included on the iPod, including a calender, a note pad, an alarm/stopwatch/timer, a scientific calculator, and some other stuff.
-The iPod actually has an internal speaker, which means you can play your music without any headphones. The quality isn't great, and its kinda quiet, but considering this is something most players don't have at all, its a plus!
-...and much more!
A couple things that I've noticed that aren't so good:
-The battery life is a little short. This shouldn't be a problem if you stay on top of charging it, but it could use to be a little longer.
-The shiny back of the iPod shows scratches really easily. I would suggest buying a cover or something.
Despite these flaws, the pluses definitely out-weigh the minuses. If your looking for a reliable, fun, and nice looking player for your music, movies, or other media, I highly recommend the iPod Touch.
Customer Review: The best little gadget I've bought to date. Summary: 5 Stars
With hundreds of reviews already submitted about the iPod Touch 16GB 2G, I'm not sure I can add much that already hasn't been said.
I love this device. It is functionally magnificent. The addition of the volume control, which the first generation didn't have, makes this infinitely more user friendly. The screen is bright and razor sharp. Photos look great on the screen as do videos, movies, YouTube and whatever else you view. The syncing capabilites have meant that for me, I can finally bury my old Palm Pilot... may it rest in peace.
This is the ultimate travel companion. I can watch video, play music, keep track of email, appointments and surf the web when in a WiFi area. The 2G has voice recording capability if you use a microphone enabled headphone like the General Electric earbuds with inline microphone GE Earbuds with In-Line Microphone. With the added protection of a Belkin Silicone Sleeve for iPod Touch Belkin 2-Pack Silicone Sleeve Case for iPod touch 2G (Black/White) you can keep your iPod Touch scratch free and looking good.
I never thought I'd get so much use from the iPod touch. To be honest I hardly ever even use it for listening to music. But I have downloaded dozens of useful, fun and mostly free apps from the Apple store and find them amazingly inexpensive and useful.
This really is an amazing device. It strikes the perfect balance between function and form. The only improvement I could envision is a sliding keyboard because the touch typing leaves something to be desired. Other than that, this is nearly perfect.
5 stars and I'd give it 10 if I could.
Customer Review: This is way better then owning a iPhone! Summary: 5 Stars
My wife had been wanting a iTouch 2nd Gen for a while now, but spending that kind of money to me was like is it going to be used, so when Amazon ran a special we finally bought this. We have found so many bargains on this site & are Prime members, so that's paid for itself already. Back to the iTouch 2nd Gen, what can we say, but Apple has really done a wonderful job with this product. My wife has been using this for about a week now and she has actually been reading a book on it & we just now bought additional screen player so that she can read more on a bigger screen. It's much cheaper then buying the Kindle. I just thought it would be another device that would hardly get used, but she's so impressed with it that we will probably be getting a 2nd one so that it's fought over. I enjoy my laptop & have a 80GB iPod, which I have been using a lot lately. All I can say is if you can find this with the deal we got on Amazon get at least the 16GB, we have downloaded quite a bit, so it will be well worth it. My daughter now wants 1, but we told her she has to save up her money if she wants 1. It's a great device that has had a lot of use & has a lot of nice apps from the iTunes store that my wife loves as well. I know now that this will get a lot of use & will be enjoyed in our house for long time. My wife wanted the 2nd Gen because of the speakers and the advance firmware that costs $10 to get on the 1st Gen. My wife had to wait to use it cause she ordered a case for it & arrived 2 days later, then went to town finding useful apps & songs that would be used. The apps are wonderful & extremely nice to have at your finger tips. If u can afford to get a Apple device this would be the 1 to get. We love it hands down.
Customer Review: Sharp, Clear and Responsive Summary: 5 Stars
I bought this to replace my dead iPod Photo.
The resolution and clarity of the screen is fantastic. Everything is sharp and clear. The colors are great. I didn't have the yellow tint problem many people are complaining about. The viewing angle is very decent as well.
The construction of the unit is tough, but I don't really want to drop it to try.
Everything is smooth on the iPod Touch. The music and video played without glitch. User interface responsive. Safari on wi-fi is not too bad, but can be improved in terms of speed -- I'm an impatient guy. Audio quality's similar to my iPod Photo, but really depends on which earphones you're using.
Note that this iPod doesn't work as an external harddisk, although there might be applications that allow it to be. Mine's a 32GB. I used to store files from work on my iPod Photo, and since I can no longer do that, I'm using less than 10GB on the Touch. If I can go back in time, I'll consider a 16GB Touch with a 16GB USB flash drive for storage.
Here's something to help you choose which capacity to get. A typical TV show of 40 minutes compresses to around 100-200MB. That's based off a high quality compression that doesn't show too much jpeg artifacts. Popular video compressing software: Videora (Windows), iSquint (Mac).
The criteria for getting this is if you watch a lot of video on the go, or like me, if you don't have time to watch show at home. Any iPod can play songs but this one plays video on a beautiful big 3.5 LCD screen. For people who can't watch more than 5 minutes of video on moving transport without getting sick, the iPod Classic is a safer choice.
Customer Review: Met Expectations Summary: 5 Stars
Having owned an iPod nano (both 2nd gen and 3rd gen), I was looking for a complementary iPod that would hold more music. The iPod touch seemed like a more exciting choice than the iPod classic, especially given that it's like having a internet service in your pocket, and all the features looked incredible. And having used it for two weeks, I'm very pleased with the product so far.
The touch screen works great, dimming if not in use for a minute's time, and the image, aside from occasional smudges, is extremely bright and crisp; it's plenty bright enough on a low setting. In some websites on Safari, the touch screen interactivity can be inconsistent (zooming in on text takes a few tries sometimes), but I love turning it on its side to get a landscape view. This same function is fantastic for using your iTunes library, changing the information depending on how you hold the iPod touch.
You can basically customize the iPod touch through the app store. I've been on the hunt for the most useful free applications, such as google earth, flikster, units, i.TV, and instapaper, and high quality and fun games, like Trism, SPiN, Snail Mail, and Asphalt 4. As long as you do some research, you'll find the treasures in the store amid all the junk.
The 16 GB is plenty of storage space for me; under the settings menu on the iPod touch, it tells me I still have 3GB available, and it is holding 1909 songs, 114 videos (many of those are very short), and 85 photos. So I think if you have a need to put over 3000 songs on an iPod, go with the iPod classic. Otherwise, any size iPod touch is the best choice as an alternative to the nano.
