I got this as a X'mas present and really didn't think much of this since I already had a 40 gig Ipod. I've learned that I really didn't need 40 gigs and that 16 gigs would be a fine fit. If you download a movie they usually aren't much larger than 1/2 a gig in space and some of the free applications will play music via your wifi home network. Some of the applications, game and utilities, are unbelievable and in many cases can be downloaded for free! It's also great to have glass as the touch screen, sure it shows finger prints, but at least it doesn't scratch! Believe it or not, I do miss not having the speaker (offered in the 2nd gen) even though it has no fidelity. All in all, not bad for $195.Customer Review: Fun but...

I love the features and the advantages of the 2nd gen but they weren't worth another $100 to me. I got this on Black Friday for $199.99 which made the decision to buy much easier. Unfortunately, the Wi-Fi went out after the 1st day so had to send it back to Apple. It takes a few days to get that going but I did get a replacement in working condition and no more problems. Make sure you check out the FREE apps at iTunes - love the "allrecipes.com" app that makes deciding what's for dinner a game. The iTouch has made me decide that I will upgrade to an iPhone after my current contract expires. I might even be nice and give my sister the iTouch so she can play with the recipe selector too!Customer Review: product worth value!!

All the good things are same as covered earlier, but the new things that I want to add is -
(i) I tried and tested a couple of custom cables for viewing videos on TV, but it finally worked with Apple' original av cables only.
(ii) Also earlier if the wifi was switched on, and if your itouch was in sleep mode for entire night, then by morning time battery used to drained out, but this is no more true...your battery stays intact during sleep time!
Also purchased this case DLO HipCase Leather Folio for iPod touch (Black) from amazon.com, which fits perfectly.

I can do everything on my iPhone! It is amazing. I can finally have my texting, calling, music, photos, facebook, internet, camera, games, and many more applications all on one device. 16 GB is plenty (I have my video iPod for my movies and tv shows which is great because I would rather not take up the space on my phone). The WiFi is awesome because it's all over the place, so I can always connect to the internet and I don't have to have phone service all the time. The only down side is that you can't be online for a long period of time or else you use alot of your battery.
Worth the money!

I received a brand new 16GB Apple iPod touch and was very excited to hook it up. I followed the instructions but after over an hour it still was as black and 'dead' as it was when I took it out of the box. After spending 40 min on the phone with Apple tech support they told me to bring it into the store. So off I went. The tech in the store went through all the same steps I did on the phone (which I told him but he apparentlhy wanted me to sit there for 30 min after he already read the on line report and heard my accounting) and THEN he swapped it out for a brand new iPod which works fine and I love. :c)
