The Ipod Touch that I own cannot be beaten by any other mp3's, period. A lot of people have complained and moaned that they were in one way or another disappointed. I cannot really explain why this is a common complaint. While I must admit my irritation towards the 32 GB Ipod Touch that recently came out months earlier prior to my purchase of this beautifully crafted mp3. While not perfect this particularly this model some include:
*Sometimes when I move the circle to turn it up it really screws up
*It can screw up my calendar and change it so that I have to manually change it back
*Sometimes it has loading issues
I purchase the updates twice and now the Ipod Touch has applications that you can purchase or received them for free. It really breathes new live into this Ipod making it that more entertaining and awesome. I mean I have truly enjoyed this mp3 and I do not want people thinking it is really bad. Because I owned a Zune before and I really didn't like it but this Ipod is really great.
*You can watch youtube videos, if you find something bookmark. If you are a youtuber and you have a few videos see them on your Ipod. Yet I wish you could manage your youtube account but it was put in place.
*The applications are varied and some are great like Tap Tap Revenge it gives you a option so you could download new tracks for free. It gave me new found faith in apple. Also they have myspace and more apps that make this Ipod the ultimate machine.
I cannot express my happiness with this product without going into deep conversation but take my word for it it is a great mp3 player.

I bought an 16GB ipod touch after take a deep look at my friends one. 16GB of memory and just a tad bigger video screen wasn't so appealing at first glance, however when I made more research and watch how the safari web browser worked, the wifi connectivity and a cool handy virtual keyboard, I decided that I needed to get one of these ASAP, the price dropped when the 32GB was launched so I bit the bullet and placed the order on amazon.
Since it arrived 2 weeks ago I take it with me everywhere, I don't even take my laptop to the college anymore, this is all I need to take notes, check my email, stay online on msn, watch some vids on youtube and surf the web for any required information.
After the mandatory jailbreak you start to see the ipod touch as something pretty useful, I installed wikipedia, mxtube, iphysics, translation dictionarys and some games to keep myself entertained everywhere I go.
The wireless works pretty good, the GUI is impressive, keyboard is a big small but it's possible to get used to it and be able to type very quick with no mistakes.
The ipod touch has gone beyond any of my expectations, all my friends want to buy one after see what is this little gadget is capable of.
The downsides I noticed are minor stuff, however I'll mencion them anyway: there is no copy paste command on safary, safary stops the browsing if there is any flash video, the chromed back can be scratched very easy, I only use it for 5 minuted and already had some parts with some deep tracks, so you might want to consider a best skins ever full body skin.

I knew the hype about Iphone and the new ipod touch, but it wasn't until I used it did I notice how amazing this product is. It never once in 3 months of solid use ever locked up or had any issues...Quality though and through. The Wi-Fi feature on this make it my "virtual" computer on the go. Plus the Video performance surpassed my expectations...I watched a 2 hour rental movie on the pod and it still had plenty of batter left over. The powersaving features on this pod are great and last a long time. I also recomend the DLO Case for it to protect the back and provide some extra grip. The new software is EXCELLENT and well worth the upgrade (I use the new features every day).
The Bad: The only bad was the lack of Flash and the fact that when playing YouTube videos batter last shorter than usual (but standard video is ok,...something to do with Wi-fi and Youtube sucks down battery). Wi fi by itself is not bad on the battery.
Overall, the Ipod may seem expensive, but so far it has enhanced my life and I like that it gives me everything I want without paying the iphone monthly fee to AT&T. Can't wait for a Voice over IP app. for this thing.
Don't bother with other brands....its the ecosystem - Apple software that really enhances the experience. You could go with Microsoft Samsung, Creative, but you will regret the decision. If you want Quality, ease, and more choices over time (apps and games for ipods coming this year)
Other recommendations: Ultimate Ears superfi5, Flytunes.net (for radio on the go), and CaseLogic case (which fits it perfect)

Received this 16GB ipod touch (1G) for a week now but still stunned by Apple's amazing technology! I've used a few ipods before but none of them can compare to this one. It is simply the best portable device on market. It is very user friendly. Get on line is so simple when you're in a hot spot. The Apple's App Store is amazing. It has so many useful software for free! Even for those who need to pay, the price is very reasonable (mostly from $0.99 to $5). I remember I'd paid more than $15 to buy a dictionary software for my Palm PDA. Now with the same $15 I can buy more than 10 app software for my ipod touch!
The good thing for the ipod touch is it uses the same firmware with the iphone. That means all the software for the iphone can also be used by the ipod touch. There are tons of them. So I recommend you to get the biggest memory that you can afford. 8GB is simply not quite enough. The difference between the 1G and 2G is so little. I would recommend to save the money and get a bigger memory for the 1G ipod touch. You would appreciate to have more built-in memory than the extra volume button and a built-in speaker on the 2G. I would love to see Apple to put a memory expansion slot on the next generation ipod touch.
Last advice is Don't Buy This For You Kids. It is so fun, addictive and so portable, they will have a very hard time to put it down and finish their homework!

First of let me say what an anti-mac comsumer I am, and how the Ipod touch however has convinced me into considering switching back to Mac. It is basically a handheld computer with some cool free apps you can load word and excel documents, and play hours of games, surf the web amazingly and its so easy to use. I love it and it is definitely the best device I own. I use it for everyhting from shopping lists, to calculus and chemistry homework, to dog whistle, to games, to my own personal photo album, plus I download my favorite tv shows and movies and periodically switch them out after i watch them, I use the bible app for quick references and google earth constantly, plus i use it to study for SAT's when i'm not busy. The only real draw backs are that it has no camera but, and no built in mic but I got over that pretty quick. It really is a toy that can play music and surf the web. Its great for pretty much anyone and I'm so happy i got mine. It feels great in my hand but make sure to get a good reliable case because if it falls on something hard its probably going to break. Hundreds of apps are available and I really have no complaints, if you want something that can surf the web (with in hot spots) download and save e-mails, play games, and listen to music along with hundreds of silly and very useful/entertaining applications then this is the perfect product.
