Here's my feedback on the key item I had to check before I considered to by the Ipod Shuffle 3G: Use for Sports
How good is the clip ?
Similar to the Shuffle 2G the 3G is very usable for running or any sports (except swimming I assume). The clip is strong and gives the Shuffle 3G a very good hold. Due to size and wheight gains, the 3G is holding better on T-Shirts then the 2G. (3G beats 2G here)
How good is the shuffle to control during sports?
People first using the new Remote System may feel the control is very high and it asks for a bit of an unused behavior when searching for it. However, the remote is really lightwheight and having it near the ear really helps knowing where it is. Pros compared to the 2G is having the options of using playlists (You can have a sports playlist) and immediately knowing which songs you are listening to (Songs get announced if you skip to the next song when you do that when the last song is announced). Cons for the 3G is that you are forced to use an apple remote earpiece.
How do the earphone hold in your ear ?
With my ears, I always have to use in-ear earphones to have a good hold when doing sports. Therefore I always have had to buy extra earphones. Disappointingly, I couldn't use my old ones as the only way to control your ipod is through the remote on the earphones. Good thing is that apple offers in ears that are very good and light. Bad thing here, they are damn expensive. In general a clear pro for the 2G
Summary:
I really like the 3G and for Sports, I prefer it over other one I had like the iRiver S10 (cant clip it) or the Shuffle 2G (no playlist support). However, if you don't use the Shuffle for sports, I really recommend for a screen based solution, which is available from various sources. The iriver S10 is a good and cheap choice.
