This was not my first Ipod. I have had a 8g Nano (current gen) and a old white 20g Ipod. The controls were very easy to get used to. Took me 5 minutes of playing around with it. While I would have rather used my Shure earbuds I felt the sound on the headphones got the job done. For the price it was a great buy! I use it when I work out, go to social gatherings, or just wanna show it off. Everyone loves the simple but elegant design. It can hold quite a bit of music if you have iTunes convert higher bitrate songs to 128 kbps AAC. I highly suggest you get a silver one. Now that Scosche has produced Tapline and Tapstick, we have our choice of means to use ANY earphones with this generation shuffle. I use my Westone UM3x earphones with Tapline and the new shuffle and could not be happier. It sounds great, easy to use, tiny little ipod with 4 Gig's making all that great music!
Without the adaptors to use my favorite earphones, I have no use for this shuffle at all.
Yeah the adaptors add expense - $20 for Tapline or $30 for Tapstick - but it's not all that much money in the scheme of things. 4 Gig!

Apple is wonderful in creating the lightest and easiest way in listening to music when on the move. That ipod shuffle with its slick design is great while using it at the gym,jogging or at the beach. Friends of mine are amazed at the audio quality and i do have to keep a close eye when at home. Might just disappear. I haven't had any trouble with this product, but it was a little difficult to get used to pressing sort of a "morse code" with one button to accomplish various things with the headphone remote. The sound quality is good, but I wish I could upgrade to headphones that stay in the ears a little better.Customer Review: Great little player

If you only want music with no video, this is great. The controls take a bit getting used to, but once you have them down, it's easy to use. Great for the gym.
