Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Apple iPod shuffle 1 GB Silver (2nd Generation) OLD MODEL

Customer Review: I own it
Summary: 5 Stars

I own the IPOD shuffle as well as an 80gb classic. I was reading the reviews of the shuffle and was somehow aggravated. The IPOD shuffle was not designed to be used as mass media music collection storage device. If you want that then you will need to purchase the big boy (classic). The IPOD shuffle is perfect for use when running, working out, or just a brisk morning walk.

It is smaller than a pack of matches and you never even know that you have it. It took me all of about 20 minutes to add the music from I TUNES to it. You can open i tunes and throw in your favorite cds, and it will copy the songs to the shuffle. I have 200 songs on mine and really did not pay a dime for any of the songs.

There is some negativity about not being able to copy music not purchased through I tunes into the i tunes library. Well I have an extensive music collection and not all of it was purchased through i tunes.

Solution to the problem, I just burn my favorite songs to a discs and then i tunes will copy mu songs into the i tunes library from the discs.

All in all the IPOD shuffle is a top of the line music player, it is not complicated and there is not onscreen display, that on most cheaper mp3 players is just plain aggravating to navigate through. If you are on the market for an MP3 player : buy the shuffle! Small, easy, and portable.

My children love theirs! They rock on road trips.Apple iPod shuffle 1 GB Bright Green (2nd Generation)

Customer Review: Apple's philosophy: If it works, "fix" it so it doesn't.
Summary: 5 Stars

Apple produced a mighty mite with this Shuffle 2nd generation, so why did they mess with it and, in the process, provoke much vocal dissatisfaction from buyers of the Shuffle 3. The come-on with the new one, of course, is more memory in less space, and leave behind the old "square" for a phallic-shaped (but pencil thin!) rocking little number. And of course fix it so the customer has to purchase a replacement cable from you know whom--and don't overestimate the intelligence of the consumer: who among us would have any idea about what's on our iPods were it not for an audio announcement before each track?

This 1GB iPod is a gem and is, moreover, highly utilitarian. It'll hold over 200 jazz tracks, and I can put it in a pajama pocket with the ear-buds underneath my pillow. And you don't have to drape it around your neck or depend on a pocket--just clip it anywhere, and it stays. I've just realized that despite all of the possibilities available to me on my iPod Touch (those thousands of apps!), I rarely use it--and then only for listening to music. I would have been smarter to have picked up 7-8 of these at the same price.

As for the sound quality, it's brilliant and clear with the included Apple ear buds, and if I plug it into the audio jack of my stereo the sonic spectrum is as replete, the volume levels as full, as any sound-reproducing mechanism in my repertory. And best of all it'll run 10-12 hours before the next charge. (Wish I could say the same about my Macbook and Mac Air, both of which are giving me barely over an hour on a single charge.)

Customer Review: When You Purchase Any Apple Ipod You Are In Sync With The Preferred Media Of The 21rst Century
Summary: 5 Stars

As a music critic and undeniable lover of music, several Ipods of varying capacities that I own including the Apple iPod shuffle 1GB are of the utmost importance professionally and pleasurably as a purveyor of outstanding music of every genre imaginable. When Apple introduced the iPod initially it was not simply a player to me but a conceptual innovation comprising the most technologically expedient ways to organize and listen to entries situated on iTunes. Ipods offer the listener the most expansive and versatile genres and lists of songs anywhere on this planet Earth through their Store. The Shuffle is noted for absolute affordability, the ability to autofill (see the Apple specs for more information), fill with almost three hundred songs and it is lighter than a cereal flake on your plate. The sheer portability of the Shuffle considering its tiny mass is actually to me, its biggest selling feature. On another note, Apple is truly a customer oriented company. This is a conglomerate that could easily stand on its laurels having provided the public with the essense of excellence in portable media that although destined to evolve and change is nevertheless here to stay, and is determined to afford each and every Apple buyer the courteous and unmaginably helpful assistance with their iPod line of products. Whether it is my iPod shuffle 1GB or my 8GB Nano, my general disposition smacks of my New York City upbringing when I say "Where else can you go"?

Customer Review: iPod Shuffle - Great for the gym or working in the yard
Summary: 5 Stars

I come from an Apple household. We have found that the user experience that Apple has created for each of its products can't be beat. My wife and I each have an iPod Classic, but found they are too bulky to comfortably have at the gym or working in the yard. We tried the armbands for attachment, but the setup is less than ideal. We now primarily use the Classics in our cars or at home in a docking station.

The Shuffle is the perfect size and form for those with an active lifestyle. 2GB of memory is ample storage space for carrying around your favorite songs. I think I have about 300 on my Shuffle at the moment, definitely enough variety for me to get thru whatever I am up to without hearing repeats. Warning...If you want to carry your entire music library, this is not the product for you.

I would recommend replacing the stock earbuds with something else. I recommend an in-ear design, as they will provide partial noise canceling which provides many benefits such as: being able to hear your music over the lawnmower; hearing your music and not the conversations of those around you; listening at a lower volume level, but actually hearing the music better.

Finally, synching your music with iTunes is about as easy as it gets. Anyone who has had a different brand of MP3 player knows that getting music on and off the device is functional, but definitely not simple for everyone to understand.

Thanks Apple, you make my life easy!

Customer Review: Excellent ! Love it....
Summary: 5 Stars

I bought this specifically for the gym, using either a treadmill or elliptical. I don't wear an Ipod weight training. The size is excellnt, so small you don't even know your wearing it, I just clip in on my shorts pocket.
I didn't buy the 3rd generation because of the poor reviews involving headphone/earplug control failure due to moisture from sweat. Also the fact you can't use a different pair of earplugs which I do becasue I like mine better.
It does just what I wanted it to do, I can load up a bunch of songs & changing songs and volume is simple even while running. I also don't see why some people have a problem with the small dockinig station to recharge it. It just becomes part of my routine, come home from the gym, take it out of my gymbag with other stuff, plug it into the docking station attached to the USB on the computer, and it's gets recharged eventually before the next day. I'm always online in the evening, so it's never a problem, besides there are other charging options available if you wanted them.
I think this is an excellent product for what it is.... Not a lot of bells & whistles..... Just a small simple Ipod for active people.
