Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Apple iPod shuffle 1 GB Purple (2nd Generation) OLD MODELCustomer Review: Want to Make a Good Ipod Purchase? Stop here! Summary: 5 Stars
The 3rd generation of the Ipod Shuffle has to be one of the best purchases that I have ever made, period. Although I will admit that there is just one down side that I see in comparison to say the 80 gig classic Ipod, which I also own. But lets focus on the positive first.
Running at least 8.5 miles a day, 5 times a week the Shuffle is great to have! The controls are easy to use, it gets loud enough to drown out all of the people at the gym and the battery life is out of this world. I love that it can handle hours of music, also that is so small that I forget that I am wearing it on my arm. I also wrote a review one of the Shuffle arm bands that I highly suggest. I know that a lot of people love their new Ipod Touches, but I think that the Shuffle could be the most valuable Ipod because of all of the people I see at the gym using one. It makes time fly and I go a couple of weeks without having to charge it.
The one down side is the sound quality when you compare it to full size Ipod. You can really tell the difference between them. But that is just one of those trade offs for size and convinence that you are going to have to live with with the Shuffle. The rest of the unit is great to use. I know that other reviewers state that it is a little pricey compared to other small MP-3 players, and that is true, it is. But when a product works like the Ipod Shuffle 3rd generation it is worth the little extra money for the long term benefits that the product is going to deliver.
Customer Review: Best iPod value Summary: 5 Stars
I have a regular 40GB iPod, but only about 10GB of songs, and only really listen to about 2GB of them on a regular basis. The regular iPod is therefore a waste for me, uses more batteries, is heavier/bigger, and generally overkill.
I wanted something for my runs, and my old shuffle (which I didn't really like) broke, so I thought I would try this new one as my wife has one and likes it.
This design is superior, the built in clip negates any need for an armband like the old design needed, and it is so small and light you don't even know it is there.
The battery life on it is fantastic - I use it for my walks to and from work each morning, on my runs, and at night when I play poker - and it still lasts about three days for me on a single charge.
I don't use the headphones that come with it, so I don't know if they are any good, and there are some odd volume issues with the unit when you first start it up (that might be a settings issue that I'm not aware of - it starts off very low) - but otherwise perfect.
If you don't like listening to the same music over and over, don't care about video, don't care about seeing the song details - then the iPod Shuffle is all you need - and it is inexpensive too - get one.
Customer Review: Ipod as fashion accessory Summary: 5 Stars
For my wife's birthday, I got her a purple Ipod Shuffle (1 gb) and gave her my Grado SR 60 headphones for stationary listening (the stock ear buds are for on the go--we do need something better, though). She loves the Shuffle. It is tiny, clips on to a shirt pocket or collar, and holds a lot of tunes. As many are now eschewing full length CD's for downloaded singles, one can pick just the songs that one desires. Nice. In an informal survey in one of my classes, almost all of my students preferred downloading what songs they wanted and had pretty much stopped purchasing regular cds. I still buy cds--regular and SACD--but I'm used to buying albums, not singles (okay, when I was a kid, I used to buy 45's).
The Ipod shuffle is easy to use. It is highly portable and small. The sound is adequate. One could use a headphone amplifier and better headphones, but that just takes away from the portability. The Shuffle sounds pretty good with Grado SR 60 cans (but they are big and the cord is rather too robust). Anyway, my wife is happy (and thus, so am I).
You can't go wrong with the Ipod Shuffle. It looks good, sounds good, and is easy to use. Now, I just wish that I had sprung for the 2 gb version. C'est la vie.
Customer Review: Best MP3 player for active lifestyle Summary: 5 Stars
Pros:
-Georgeous! Sleek. Aluminum and not cheap plastic.
-Flash. You do not have to worry about shock and vibration compared to a hard drive.
-Interface. Like other Apple user interface, it is so simple to use. Not so many buttons to learn how to use.
-So small
-The clip is an ingenious feature in itself. You can clip to your collar, sleeve, hat, pockets... If you go to gym a lot or jogs, this is the perfect thing for you.
-The earphone that it comes with does not tangle very easily.
-Available in many colors
Cons:
-Itunes only. No drag and drop for your audio files. Although you can drag and drop files if you set it to use also as a storage device. You just cannot play the audio.
-There is no screen to see song titles.
-Proprietary dock (which comes with the player - do not lose it). You cannot plug it directly to USB.
Customer Review: Amazing device for the money! Summary: 5 Stars
This IPOD 3rd Generation player is all I could ask for. I decided to purchase this simply for excercising and I could not be any happier. In fact, I purchased an extra for my wife. Folks, of course there will be critics out there who wish this could be cheaper in price and capable of expanding more to like a 2 GB and offer more features, but take it for what its worth. This IPOD is not for anyone, especially those who seek all the tech features such as videos and pictures, but that is why Apple created other players. With shuffle you simply load it up with over 200 songs and you listen. You play and don't worry about anything but the volume. By no means I don't exclude any other ipods like the Nano because those other players are awesome, but I suggest to find the best one to suit you.
I just purchased the auxilary cable and plugged the shuffle to my car stereo and it works GREAT !!
