I was going to replace our portable CD player, but for not much more $, my apple-loving husband pointed me in this direction instead. Knowing *nothing* about ipods, I took the leap. It arrived in two days and I'm up and running (well, listening) already (after upgrading my Windows 2000 with a free package online---I could not use itunes without the upgrade). The sound quality is fantastic. Honestly, I cannot believe something this size sounds so incredible, even with the little earbuds. My only complaint is that you have to get the full users guide by downloading it online, but trial-and-error worked pretty well. And now I can clear out all those old CDs that have only one song I like... Wonderful! Get one!!Customer Review: tiny, powerful and stylish

Hello, I've just received my new ipod shuffle mp3 player and I just love it, I strongly recommend it for those looking for simplicity and quality sound when it comes to enjoy your musical experience. The pros I see in this ipod it's overall that it has the perfect size, a great sound quality and volume capacity, outstanding portability - once you wear it you can't put it away :)-, finally the size it's also cool of 1 GB, because if you really think about it, for what do you really need huge space if you're probably be listening only to your top favorite songs anyway. I'm not an expert in mp3s but I'm a very satisfied client, so if you ask me it's the best one to buy now.

As much as I love the freedom that my 4g iPod provides (well, minus the hard drive constantly being full), there's something special about knowing every track that comes on will be one of your favorites.
With space at a premium, you've got to be choosy with the tracks on your Shuffle, but it just makes it all that much more satisfying. I bought one for myself and fell in love, so I bought the orange variation for my girlfriend for Valentine's Day and she loves her perhaps even more than I love mine.
The orange is a stunning color -- I only wish that it and the others had been available when I picked mine up although the default silver is no slouch to look at.

I love my shuffle! I like how you don't have to listen to the songs shuffled if you don't want and I love the clip feature. 250 songs is just right for me. This little baby is perfect for exercising or when you're on the go and you don't want to worry where you'll put it like the full sized iPods. I'm PO'd I bought mine before Apple decided to come out with colored shuffles. Not cool Apple. Not cool. :) The only drawback I've noticed is it doesn't have the option where you push a button and it makes it so if the dial is pressed on accident the song or volume can't be changed.
EDIT: I found out it does have the hold mode, you hold down the play button for 3 seconds. Awesome!

I ordered this ipod to gift somebody..Initially I received an empty box in mail. I was really frustrated to see an empty box with all packaging and order receipt. I called Amazon and they handled situation with great sense of customer relationship. They reordered same item for me immediately and sent through an upgraded mail at no extra cost to me. At this time I must apploud Amazon for great customer care and sense of urgency..
As expected the ipod is the best. In contrary to some reviews on this board, I was able to use multiple ipods on same laptop to update songs.
Shuffle's size, sound quality and battery life are really enough for the price..
