Customer Review: iPod Shuffle 1GB (2nd Gen) - The iPod for non-iPod users

The Shuffle might be the poor man's music player these days, but it does a fine job of what it sets out to do. Once you have iTunes (free downloadable Apple software) on your computer, putting music on your iPod is as simple as dragging and dropping files into the iPod's playlist. The device sports 1 gigabyte of storage, which is still enough for hours of music. When you want to listen to some music, you just pop in the earbuds, turn on the power, and hit play. The Shuffle is durable and small enough to put in a pocket, and the controls are so simple you will probably not even have to look at the iPod to use them.
The main downside is the inability to navigate through your music files to select a specific artist or song. The player can either go through your playlist top to bottom or "shuffle" it and play songs randomly. You can skip or go back through the list, but that's it. So the Shuffle works great when you just want to have a soundtrack playing in the background, not so great when you want a friend to hear this new song you just downloaded on to it.
Overall, it's a very solid and functional package for the price, and like most of Apple's products, it looks somewhat cool and stylish.

I have the 1st generation shuffle (gift) - thought it was great replacement for the Sony Stick version that I had many years ago. This version is great for running and workouts as it is sooo small and non-intrusive, and with its own clip. I know Apple has just announced the 2GB version but for my running - 1GB and the battery life are more than enough features for me. What a great price. I have had this item on my 'to buy list' for a long time as I thought the original $80 was a little too high. I cant be happier with this new price.Customer Review: Good for basic music needs

It's excellent for exercise. Sometimes I'd like to be able to search out a certain album or song a little more easily, and I wish it would turn off after a set amount of time (like at night), but overall it's a very nice little ipod. I definitely didn't need to get one of the big ones. For those people who have something against 'shuffled' music, know that it can also just play through everything in order from start to finish. You just have to update the music on it more often than on a regular ipod to make things more easily accessible.Customer Review: Apple IPOD Shuffle 1

It was a nice experience buying this item exactly how I wanted... enough memory to take to gym or while you are waiting in a line very convenient hide any place. Reasonable price.
I will give 4 and half star ( I wish the clip has faced the other way because some time it is hard to clip without making it to turn off).
